Thank you, finally someone who admits that the PvP in WoW sucks.

Okay, I tried the trial twice to see if I liked it. I got as far as lvl 20 undead mage, and I didn't like it. I've played many MMOs in my life, and WoW isn't among the best I've played and I'll tell you why I don't like it so much, and possibly others may agree with me on this. Some of these things, however, are down to personal opinion.
The problem that you would most likely have here is the presence of twinks in battlegrounds. Twinks are low level characters decked out with the best possible gear for their level and pay for all the best possible enchants and gems so that they can one-shot people actually trying to have some pvp fun while leveling.

Wow's other main pvp problem is the attempt by blizzard to introduce esports in the form of arenas to the WoW pvp game. This brought class balances imbalances and powers under the spotlight and generally is responsible for a lot of the fucking up of the game as a whole. Without arenas the game would be better off, so yes, your point holds here. However, outside arenas, the pvp can still be a lot of fun.

[qoute]
1. Gameplay: Yes, the game is interesting. But all it is an ultimate grind session. It becomes tiring and feckless work. The true reward, from what I heard, doesn't start until lvl 60. By that point those with nerves of steel would stick around. I tried the whole grind thing and I lost interest. I was rich, but I just lost interst.
[/qoute]

If you think WoW is a grindfest, then you never played Everquest or Ultima. I remeber having to sit around for close to an hour on my mage in everquest meditating for mana. Wow? You drink for 20 seconds. Wow does a LOT to improve on those models while being fun while still working to cause grind to keep players paying. Remember that the ultimate goal of wow is to make Blizzard money.

2. Crafting: Crafting was by far the coolest thing I've done in that game! It was simply awsome and great in the beginning and good money making! Thing is though, when you get enough money or a higher level the things you'd craft become obsolete to the stuff in the shops or in the raids. I feel like my armour or weapons are only stepping stones to the nice shiny shiny at the end of a raid, and who wants that? The crafting system was good, yes, but wasn't important and made you feel like you were going through transition to a raid.
The whole model of the game is on gear progression. You work hard to get better gear so that you can attain more and even BETTER gear. If you have fun doing this, then stick with it. If not, then don't.

3. Sound: I have no qualms here. Excellent production values in the audio.
Damned right it is excellent. Except zangarmarsh.

4. PvP: As you've mentioned before, the game doesn't have a good PvP, and I'd agree with you. Little gnomes jumping around the battle because they're harder to click and tanks losing all meaning as enemies could just run right through you. It was a bombshell. Also, when I was doing the trial, running to the nearest battle master to activate a PvP match became tiresome.
Tab targets the nearest hostile unit. You can bind an additional key to target the nearest hostile player. For me, it is `. As for battlemasters, you can now queue up anywhere, and if you think going to a capital city is hard, you used to have to go queue up at the physical location in the gameworld itself. Furthermore, wow was the first game ever to have battlegrounds for pvp. Say what you will about Blizz, you have to concede that they are constantly working to improve the game design.

[qoute]
5. PvE: Besides the constant grinding I rather enjoyed it. It truly is geared as a PvE game.

[Psuedo-Latin Chant] I will not move when flame wreath is cast or the raid... blows... uuuuuuuuppp.[/psuedo-latin chant]

6. Story: I felt like there was no plot or story to the game. What main quest I've done an hour ago soon loses relavence an hour later. The plot never felt coherent for me and so I felt loss as to what was going on in the story. Thus I felt that what was going on around me didn't matter and I felt no real connection to the world, and I stopped caring why I was killing bears.
As previously mentioned, you got to what? Level twenty? That is still in the: "you are just one more alliance volenteer army person" stages. Not in the "epic conquering hero" stage.

7. Quest Drop Ratio: I'm sorry, but this is annoying. How many times does someone have to whack their giant sword or cast a spell on a mind numbing amount of monsters, more then you should, just to pick up one item...out of 5 more you need to get?! When does that ever become fun?!
Again with WoW being infinitely better than other games with this. You ever try everquest or city of heroes? They make wow look like EZmode. /gag

I think I'm done. In conclusion I never enjoyed WoW because I never felt a connection to my player or the world around me. My actions felt like they would go unnoticed in the story and no matter what profession I took it wouldn't matter because it would only be used for that raid item. The game only got better around lvl 60 from what people are telling me and I keep saying that the game should be good around lvl 1, but I'm guessing from their faces that it was too much to ask. Also, the PvP aspect was horrible. I play to fight!

In ending, the game is not meant for those who enjoy the mind numbing leveling up or the constant monster bashing to pick up the one quest item. Nor the terrible PvP which is a huge reason for me to play MMOs, to interact with other players through sword and magic.

I hope I explained myself, and shed at least some light.
I too am done here. If you didn't enjoy the game then don't play it. I just wished to provide some counterpoints here to make things more interesting

I don't like it when something I like is taking flak. Would you like it if I just came up to you and said, "Dude your GF is a whore, but you like her so it's fine," what would you do? I'm not saying that, she is probably very nice :p

Dude that's a stretch for comparisons. Your GF is real, WoW is not, it's just a game. Never ever compare girls to video games. I love games but they got nothing on real people, especially girls.

You not liking it when somebody disses something you like, and your quote are on two completely different levels. That was a horrible representation.

To the point though, as for myself I do dislike WoW (Yes, I played it too), but more so the community. Sure there are millions of people that just play the game, for the sake of playing and enjoying it. Though they do seem far and few between from the other 10 million people who are just social retards, kids, or morrons who think they are god in a fake world.

I don't hate it, I find it more entertaining the millions of people are sitting in dark rooms for hours and hours, crying about their lvl 40 Icy staffs of ice that shoots smurfs that sing "Swing Low Sweet Chariot" to the musical toon of wookie mating screams from Endor about how much Marvin Gaye is overrated compared to Al Green, then Klengons attack the rebel alliance for not sending enough space cookies through the fusion cannon that actually shoot live puppies that transform into giant fire breathing dragons that Gary Busey tamed... which isn't actually taming, it's more hating Michael J. Fox. Anywho, it's the fact (for me anyway) that instead of curing cancer (or anything of equal or less merit), they play, pwn, complain, and blog about their lvl 62 elf riding a bear.
Nice run-on sentence. Just had to point that out =p And very amusing post, I enjoyed it.

You can't judge someone's view because of the level they got too. This is infact an inherant problem with all MMO's out there, including WoW. The story, if there is one is never apparent, and the way questing works, etc, it definitely doesn't add to that story telling aspect. That is just like saying "You didn't like that book? Really? I thought it was great". Ok, so you thought it was great, but for many others they won't find that to be. If the first few sentences doesn't instice them to continue reading are you really going to sit there and say they are wrong for putting the book away, and that it does infact have an amazing story?

Because, WoW involves no strategy,no clever gameplay, no story. All it is is grind, grind grind grind grind grind. Only people who have never played a good game before get addicted to WoW.
Sounds like someone hasn't played it before.

I don't mind WoW at all. I play it on occasion, though I prefer shooters.

Okay, Everquest I can understand, but City of Heroes? That game doesn't have quest drops.

I don't give a shit if you play it, but to me no game is worth 15 dollars a month. Especially not one that provides little more stimulation than watching "lord of the rings" while doing math homework. And I don't even like lord of the rings

Well, I just dislike MMOs in general. Doesn't matter if it's WoW, Eve or whatever.

You repetitively do the same things in these games for hours and hours. Please kill 100 insects in this valley. Oh, you gained a lot of experience and recieved a stronger armor for solving this important quest. Congratulations, you can now go to valley 2 and kill 120 insects there, but be prepared, the insects there are red instead of blue and therefore much stronger. Their death is going to bring even more glory to you.

But hey, why should I have a problem with you playing MMOs? Just because I don't understand why anybody wants to spend parts of his/her free time by doing stuff like that doesn't mean that I've got a problem with it.

Lol here we go again. Why do people hate wow? The answers simple its because the game is as generic as it gets. Don't get me wrong here I dont fall into the party of Wow sucks etc etc but I do find the game dull and uninspiring. My personal pet hate though is that due to its popularity it has almost killed any inovation in the mmo market. Since its release nearly all mmo's have become wow clones.

What I find funnier though is all those that say "Wow sucks but "X" (x being yet another generic mmo thats a clone of wow) is great. Lets be honest here and simply state for the record that with the exception of DDO and Eve all other mmo's are in essence Wow with maybe a few tweaks.

Why do you even care? There are allot of people who think some of the things i like are stupid but i don't give a shit because as long as they can't control what i like and don't like i don't have a reason to get upset. In fact this thread is more or less pointless, why not also create a tread about why some people hate sports or why some people don't like apples or why allot of people think Linux is crap? It all just comes down to what you want and as long as you can have it there is no point or purpose in whining about it when somebody thinks your wrong.
You've completely missed the point of my comment and this entire thread. I don't care what people think of WoW, I just want to know why so many people think it is a bad game. Notice I have replied to very few comments to disagree with people if they say something about the game; I want input, not a flame war.

I liked the game itself and the graphics are what they are. I no longer play at all because when my account was inactive, someone hacked my account, reactivated it with a stolen credit card and got the account banned. When I tried to tell Blizzard there was fraudulent activity, the response was along the lines of don't care, someone paid now go away. It all boils down to customer service, which there is none of. They ignore the gold spamming and account fraud because they are still making money off of the hacked accounts. I wanted no part of it anymore.
