I have been on forums here, and other places for some time now. I have noticed a trend: people hate gamestop employees. I could never figure out why.

The gamestops I have been to I have met nothing but friendly people who love games. They wouldn't be hardcore gamers but they have fun. I worked at a gamestop and it was an awesome job.

If people are upset because Gamestop employees aren't hardcore gamers, would you be upset with a McDonalds employee because they don't dream about McDonald and if they aren't excited about a new sandwich?

so why do people seem so angry with gamestop employees?

Because fro the most part they can't work a register that well in all of the Gamestops that I've been in.

I don't hate Gamestop employees, I hate Gamestop.

The employees are usually really nice when I go in there and the one I usually go to has a bunch of employees who I'm actually friends with.

I just hate the company Gamestop.

This. It's like yelling at your monitor for something going wrong when your tower is the culprit.

Because the extent of some people's ability to 'stick it to the man' is just to stick it to the person in front of them, regardless of wether or not it was their fault.

I doubt anyone can tell you really why there is hate for Gamestop employees. I don't hate them at all either, like you said they probably aren't hardcore gamers but neither am I. If the reason is because they aren't hardcore then the people that hate Gamestop employees probably have some problems of their own.

I have got to say, that is a pretty complicated cash register system.

well, i have two gamestops in my town, one employs knowledgeable, nice, friendly people some of which i actually became friends with. the other however is filled with... how can i put this nicely... you know how people are nerds (before anyone says anything, yes, i know, im a nerd), well these are the nerds who are also assholes, they might know how to answer your question, but they wont give you an answer because they feel superior to you. i refuse to shop at this one anymore because the guy who works there is such a jerk to everyone who walks in. the people who hate gamestop probably have one like this in their town, or like others have said they just hate gamestop in general.

This is probably why most people end up not liking Gamestop employees.

Misplaced anger...
True, but that's no reason to hate the employees for the company's bullshit policies.

I really couldn't have said it better myself. That's pretty much it. Most of my Gamestop stores have friendly workers, I've never really come across a bad one.

No it is the same cash register that every store since like the 90's has had. Those people are just dumb.

Over here in Canada, I believe it's called EB Games. Anyways, if it's the same store, I don't hate the employees, because as you said, I usually meet friendly people who love games, but I do hate the store itself. They overprice shit and the stock is usually just shoved onto the shelves in no particular order other than by system.

Personally, I really enjoy my local Gamestop. The employees there are never dumb and the rarely push for subscriptions and preorders and whatnot. And if they do ask if I want to preorder a game or whatever, I just politely say "no thanks" and move on. Go in, get my game, go out. Simple as that.

As a soon to be gamestop employee I've wondered that. Ihe 1 where I'm going to work is for the most part dead. 2 of my buddies work there and all they do is play games till they get their daily 5-10 costumers come in and spend 20 mins decuding between a game and the special edition verson. so really don't hate the employees blame the the dumbass standing in front of you asking if that edge card is worth it.

I've never actually come across a bad Gamestop/EB Games employee. All the ones I've come across at the store near my house are very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about games and game systems. Granted, it's a fairly small store with not too many employees so I usually see the same employees multiple times. :p

The one I frequent is fine. The people are nice, know a good deal about the games myself and my grandmother are interested in.

It was EB for a while here, Electronics Boutique right? Anyway, I don't dislike the store or the occupants.

Well, for me, it's because they are hardcore gamers. As such, they feel the need to act incredibly superior to everyone and be general douchebags. But I suppose that depends on the store you go in. The reason why everyone hates them, I think, is due to a hatred of the company rather than the actual employees, as many others have said.

What he said. However, Last time I went there, they asked to be a training customer. I didn't mind. It's better to get a nice person instead of an asshole.

The Gamestops I go to have really friendly people. I've never had a problem with them or anything about the store.
