Why the remakes

Why does the US seem to have to remake every popular series from the UK? Life on mars for example.

And also why do they always seem to remake them to be worse. The US ending of life on mars was stupid and unimaginative and i kind of wish i missed the last episode so i wouldnt know how it ended.

I just dont get it, is it cause the average american cant understand a british accent or something. I could probably understand that after watching Misfits with that blond girl and her accent, it was crazy

Any way why do you think they have to keep remaking things instead of just sticking with the often better originals from the UK?

A lot of the time the producers don't understand the characters or the timing enough. Some of the time, they just don't work abroad. The American version of the I.T.Crowd used exactly the same scripts and one of the same actors (Moss), but they just didn't "get it".

Which one is better?
