November 16th 2010, ubisoft released Assassins creed brotherhood for the Xbox 360 and the Playstation 3.
March 17th 2011, ubisoft will be releasing Assassins creed brotherhood for the PC.
Why do PC gamers have to wait 4 months, WHY?!?!?

Everyone figured it was because they were concocting some ridiculous DRM.

However, they said it's going to be fairly simple.

So maybe they got some pointers from 3D Realms "Nah it's okay just wait, and don't do anything."

Why?
Because 4 months is the estimated shelf life they've projected for their title. After that, Ubisoft will pursue sales in the secondary market, which happens to be the PC market.

I imagine part of it has to do with Ubisoft wanting to minimize the effects of piracy (it's less common, though obviously not impossible, to pirate software on consoles than on a PC) until it absolutely has to.

Think of it from the marketer's perspective, which sounds more appealing for your bottom line:
Release a product that will be cracked, copied and readily distributed immediately, thus cutting into your sales for more consistent markets.
Release that product later, so that said people cannot immediately crack and distribute it (or if they do, it will be distributed for a much smaller black market population).

Hopefully because they are making it not a shitty port of a console game? I don't get what the question is. You can't just run an XBOX game on a PC without doing some pretty drastic changes to it. And considering how awful such ports normally are, I really don't mind waiting for them to do a hopefully good job.

And besides, the amount of time between AC2 and ACBrotherhood is about the same for both platform types, PC is just phase shifted later.

Why would you even want to play it? None of Ubisoft's ports have been good.

They're not quite as horrible as Rockstar, but it's usually pretty bad.

Owning both Assassins Creeds for PC as well as almost every Rockstar game for PC I can only half agree with you.
While playing those games with a keyboard is terrible... a 360 controller solved that issue.
But in terms of running well or not... all the games run great.

Minimizing piracy. That's your reason.

And trying to fight back by pirating the crap out of it when it is finally released on PC will only make them take longer with each game.

Because they probably wanted to make back their budget on the consoles, then release it on the PC after piracy won't have as big an impact. Or something, I don't know.

Oh, I genuinely didn't know that.

I've heard nothing but complaints about them, like GTAIV not getting a good framerate even on high-end machines.

I liked them when I played using an xbox controller...

And by far the worst port to pc is Darksiders. You cant even change the resolution from the default settings and the controls are painful to use on a keyboard

Because until recently, it was way harder to pirate a console game than a PC game. Now with the root codes out, the situation is reversed, and go figure, PC version comes out right away.

I wouldn't complain. Your wait may include additional time to work out a number of bugs in the system.

Only the PS3 root key release was recent. 360 and Wii games have been getting pirated ahead of release schedule for years.
Yeah, but with the Ps3 root key release the last bastion of console unpirateability has been broken. Think about it: 100% of PC releases are pirateable, while only 67% of console releases can be pirated. Now those numbers are 100% for both. Changes the situation.

DRM. Actually, they probably have to change some code for the PC version and put in some mumbo-jumbo to try and protect their game. Clearly they have a PC version (games are developed on the PC afterall) but they have to condition it in special ways for consoles and PCs and apparently they did Consoles first.
