The reason War will never stop is because of two reasons.
A) It culls out the population, and despite what you may think, the government wants this.
and B) War is great for the economy, it genereates business like you wouldn't believe, and everybody partaking in it, (apart from the cannon-fodder, AKA soldiers) gets alot richer.
The whole thread is about the second reason...

We are simply human. When there are no more wars it means there are no more humans. Its good to prepare for war, but still I would prefer for humanity to evolve out of this phase of destroy everything to end a conflict, normally started by something stupid.

Yes, the people we attacked first could have been our friends.

You disagree with me? Prove to me that violence is better than diplomacy. If you disagree with me, let me see your opposing arguments.
I don't ever recall saying I believed violence was better than diplomacy, actually I recall saying the other way around. Actually I think it went alittle something like this .

Well you can talk about diplomacy all you want and how it would be better than war (and it would be) but sad to say we don't live in a world of happiness and love, where arguments are settled over a nice cup of tea and gum drops shower from the heavens. The fact is that most things that cause war have started in diplomatic channels and usually have been there for years, but you just never hear about them in the news because people rather hear about what other celebrity died today or why they missed Simon giving someone a standing ovation.
You never specified when I asked the question 'who did we attack first and not try diplomacy with?' And since I never said violence was better than diplomacy having an opposing argument is kind of hard.

What I disagree with is your comments of 'ALL the things our government does is for money. That those who tell our leaders to war, want war ,so all of America wants war' Show me your proof that EVERYTHING they do is for money, that ALL of our leaders want war and that ALL Americans want war.

Yes it will.
Yes, it will last forever?

Or yes, war will stop?
Stop
Support your claim. Why do you think war will stop?
I see your cynicism OP in the first post, I haven't really waded through the other posts, but, yes, there is much profiteering in war. (For certain people and players of course)

However, let me up the cynicism and take war to its logical conclusion.

The human population will eventually wipe itself out and then war will end.

Either man-made extinction or a natural event, it's only a matter of time. It's quite doubtful that we will have enough time to develop sustainable living in space and capable space travel to leave our solar system anytime soon to ensure the survival of the species. My bet's on humanity plunging into some kind of world war once again and ending itself before it has a chance to escape this planet, taking war with itself.

The question is when will this happen?

War wont stop now for one reason, if one country were to say "screw our military" then that leaves them a weak piece on the board game, one that would have to be supported by others...and if no one else complies there is no point to be the one "good natured" country without any power, no one will come to your aid when the enemy is at the gate. You open yourself up to an attack and those who want power will strike, its simple.

Fighting is a solution that is used by all animals, combat to get food, to get sex to get whatever they want when the other side cannot agree. If I say im of royal blood and demand you pay me tribute, youd spit in my face, if I had a legion of soldiers at my beck and call then you might act differently (and no its not an action movie where youll win).

The point im making here is that it doesnt all just boil down to money

the only reasons for war are money, power and fear. people know if they are feared no one will dare to raise a sword against them. the human mind is also obsessed with power. no matter how much iy has, it will always want more. but were will pur obsession with power lead us? will it take us to the point were we kill our friends for more power (i call it the rapture affect)? do we call war those who don't deserve it, just for the power and fear the keeps society as it is?

now for some quotes *applause*

War is a matter of old men's pride, and young men's lives. - Anonymous

Are bombs the only way of setting fire to the spirit of a people? Is the human will as inert as the past two world-wide wars would indicate? - Gregory Clark

There is nothing that war has ever achieved that we could not better achieve without it. - Havelock Ellis

War does not determine who is right -- only who is left.- Bertrand Russell

I don't understand why anyone thinks war is profitable for the countries involved in it. It's an excellent way to make money if you're not involved or to compel your populace to do industrial jobs for not enough pay, but fighting wars is expensive.

You are absolutely wrong. War is part of human nature. War is like hypocrisy, no one likes a hypocrite but we all can be one at some time or another. War is fought for many reasons, from land, freedom, religion, to simple human psychotic rage. War will never change (fuck you Solid Snake!) and war will never end. It's sad to accept that but maybe we can all try to avoid war at all costs.

I apologize for barging into this debate, it just sounded too good to pass up! If you're annoyed, just lemme know, and I'll stop.

But, the US committed vast atrocities against Native American's that was probably all from the greed of the American White men in Washington. Native Americans are peaceful people - granted, they have a lot of pride - yet no one in Washington was willing to try to live alongside the Indian. Because of their rumored savage lifestyle, they were rejected, forced into concentration camps, murder houses, and boarding schools, all in an attempt to make them more civil (read, more white) and hopefully completely eradicating the "Native menace". And why did they try to make my people more white? To further the American dream, so that America could grow unhindered, able to see the white man's manifest destiny fulfilled.

Granted, I think that America was sort of destined to rule what we now recognize as the continental US, but they didn't have to do it with the abuse towards Indians.
I'm not annoyed and feel free to continue if you so wish I don't control what others do.

Yes America did use the Native Americans and they haven't done much to make up for it, but granted I wasn't alive then. Yes I feel for the Native American people for the atrocities that happened to them but I also feel for the slaves and Holocaust victims.

Now here is the spot where people get pissy and scream racist at the top of their lungs. To me it is history and I had no say in what happened. Sorry but why complain and dwell about something none of us had any control over? I love it when people bring events from the past like this up such as Slavery and the Holocaust. YES, they were ALL HORRIBLE THINGS, but again none of us were alive during them. If you were, especially the first two, then I would love to ask you some questions.

The fact is yes they were horrible events but what should we do? Should we prosecute everyone who is a descendant of those who committed those atrocities for crimes the descendents never committed? Oh I would love to see that world. A world where we are not only responsible for the things we do in our own life but those of the actions of people in the past. Now should we remember what happened so it doesn't hopefully repeat itself, by all means yes, but beyond that what else do you want? Money, an apology from every white man on the planet? (Again it would be apologies from people who had nothing to do with it, but since people still have so much hatred about it I must assume they assume it is in the bloodlines and is carried genetically)

Not too mention you blame all of it on America and whitey, but didn't it all start with the British and French colonies using the Indians? Oh and don't forget about the Spanish too. Do people just tend to forget what they did to the Aztecs and other Central and South American empires? Can't really blame that one on whitey.

Alright now since the spark word 'racist' was used I expect a lot of people to assume I am racist and bend my words in attempts at hate replys.

This is something of a loaded question isn't it? Or statement. Either way, I'm going with war won't stop because of the fact that we are all human and we all think differently. We all have different points of view and ideologies which puts us at odds with one another. We can't help it as human beings seeing as no matter where you live, what laws you live under, or how you live we have free will. Some people just believe in their own ideology so much that they want the rest of the world to agree with them, and in doing so, can lead to war. *shrug* Or maybe that was all just philosophical boshi and war will never stop because we enjoy violence and being on top~

War will never end because as Al Capone put so wisely

"A kind word and a Gun will get you more than just a kind word."

Above two statements are win. There will always be evil in the world, and as long as there is evil there will be people prepared to stop it.

As long as there are at least two differing opinions on this planet and limited resources, there will be war. Don't try and give me your little anti-establishment preaching, even if the government was totally free of lobbyists people would still fight.
