And that was all your fault. <_<

I got a warning for derailing two threads. Another for making a low content post in a thread where two people posted, an op where there was nothing to discuss and was buried for a week.
Oh and a probation for saying that Top 5 with Lisa Foiles was "meh" and not for me.

I seem to get probated for trolling every time I post. Mods have a major-league hair trigger lately, and I'm not so sure I like the new order around here. On the bright side, however, being a polarizing figure means I've got as many big fans as mortal enemies, and nobody ever got anywhere by being mediocre and invisible.
Well, below you can tell my reason.

Another guy justcalled something retarded and got probated so... yeah. Getting kind of ridiculous.

In order, it was
Warning: Insulting
Warning: Insulting and Flaming! Final Warning!
Warning: Insulting! Final Warning!
Then a 30 day suspension for: Trolling.

To be honest I deserved them all, really.

Not if I can help it.

On topic: I've got a clean record thus far. And I really don't give a shit either way about it.

I made an amusing joke about trolling in a thread that specifically asked us to show how we troll. What made it worse was that the joke consisted of a totally harmless image from Princess Bride.

I don't know what annoys me more; the face that someone thought I was being a problem, or the fact that the mod clearly had never seen one of the greatest movies ever made.

Here is a link to that fateful post. [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.195976-Poll-The-Art-of-Being-A-Total-Jerk#6296160] (User discretion advised. Apparently it was enough of a problem to incure mod wrath, so I should put this warning on).

I got a moderation warning for the low content post thing on a thread entitled "Which games today would have been bad by the standards of the 90s" or some such. I said "Farmville", which I thought pretty much said it all without a tl;dr post about casual games. I wrote them back about the warning, because I figured it must be a mod bot thing-- i.e. one word = low content post. No response, so I figure it either got lost in the daily PMs, or they just don't like deleting warnings.

But in all seriousness, the warnings can seem a tad draconian, but by internet standards this forum is a haven from the usual flame wars, etc. Unless you want to post in one of those threads about why girls or piracy, of course.

replying with just a picture.
Now I add blocks of text full of drivel to make it look like I'm contributing to the conversation!

I'm very cautious when I post, and haven't received any MOD warnings as of yet.
I've said some things before that I thought could've earnt me a warning/probation.

Aren't they a little over-zealous in general?

I'm glad that the forum is tightly regulated (keeps the riff-raff out), but sometimes the reasons for probation can seem downright petty. Often it seems you aren't even allowed to criticise escapist shows without risking penalisation.

I'm worried this post might get in trouble; I used "probe" and "Penal" in the same paragraph!

My latest, and I believe still current, probation was because I called people using welfare money in casinos "poor and stupid". I'm still fairly sure it's an accurate descriptor, but it's apparently not polite to point out the foolishness involved in gambling away money you only get because you're broke and jobless.

I was once warned for having a single word post in a thread that was revealing Michael Jackson: The Experience.

I once made a very depressing post about cancer (I was in a foul mood) and accidentally trolled my way into the hot topics section. The mod was nice and let me off with a warning.

I'm actually glad that the mods are strict here, there may be frequent mod wrath, but there are rarely bans. I think it helps keeping the Escapist from sinking to the level of /b/.

I got a warning once for making a post in a troll thread instead of following the "Report and move along". So far I've been pretty good about not getting in trouble...knock on wood.
