maybe when the ads aren't popping up over the shit im trying to read, flashing, making godawful noises and probably infecting my computer with gods know what i'll consider turning my adblockers off, for example penny arcade actually has reasonable ads so i make an exception for them. i swear to god the internet is practically fucking unusable without a legion of firefox addons mainly thanks to ads so you can take your fucking condecending attitude and shove it up your arse.
anyone else sick to the back teeth of the fucking hark at me, holier than thou attitude a lot of people round here seem to display.
btw do you always click through to original source of content you find on news agregate sites like the escapist? if not you're screwing plenty of people too.

also i mute ads on TV and will continue to do so until they stop ramping up the volume during ad breaks.

I don't have ad block simply because ads are a tolerable nuisance to me so you can kindly strike me off of whatever anti-intellectual list you've dreamed up. While it is amusing to see adblock in all its forms painted as the internet equivalent of the Khmer Rouge I can't help but view this whole thread as baiting the ground, so you can sick a probation on those cursed adblock using vermin.

What's that? Yes I do tempt the mistress of hyperbole from time to time, how did you guess?

I might be prepared to look at ads but my biggest gripe is with this: There is never anything advertised that I have ANY interest in. Sites like blip.tv where you can't always skip ads have offered my lots of things: liquor that isn't available where I live, music I don't like, shows I would only watch at gunpoint, offers from starbucks that aren't available where I live, content offers that only work if you are in the USA, games I don't like and banks that don't do business in this country.

I watched them and someone somewhere got a cent for every ad, but the companies who put the ads out there gained nothing from me as a consumer.

Advertising that isn't relevant to my interests is just irksome. There's no point in bothering me with it because I will not actually buy anything that is advertised thusly (or more correctly, never have so far, you never know).

I understand however that people like Kathleen like to get paid and that I myself like to watch free stuff. So unless it is like 5 pop-ups offering me penis pills, I just accept and ignore it. When I'm at my parents watching TV (I won't get myself one, there's no point) I make myself tea during the ad breaks, and when I buy a magazine (what is that kids?^^) I shake it out over a bin.

As long as ads remain simple unobtrusive banners, they won't bother me. Annoying sound, or Flash adverts bogging down my browser, are things I can do without. I also hate being forced to watch adverts before short web videos. I think I shall continue to use an ad-blocker.

That said, I pay for the Pub Club, because I think the Escapist deserves it.

In other words, they prevent the ad from loading at all, which is why The Escapist is so pissed off about them, as apparently they have an advertising deal that's dependent on the number of pageloads the ads get.
Well, in that case I have disabled Adblock + on the Escapist. They still get their money, and I still don't get ads on other sites.

This topic makes me laugh.....seriously.

DO I care if I am pulling money away from the companies running those ads? Not in the least.

That will never change.
Looks like someone sprung the BanTrap :(
People should seriously know better than to respond to Threads like these :p
