Are men stereotypically portrayed as being obsessed about having sex, and women are not ??

i know sometimes it happens like that, but with me and my girlfriend it used to be her who was obsessed with sex, although its about equal now.

any thoughts on this??

Because men do truly (as a whole) tend to objectify women far more than the other way around. Women are much more in tune with a real "bonding process" and are much more tied to their emotions; relationships are generally less about sex for them and more about the actual relationship. While men care about the relationship, sex often plays a larger part for them about the quality of the relationship than it does for women.

It's simply an evolutionary thing that's outdated in this days society. Let's go with lions, in a lions pride there is one dude and LOTS of dudettes. Which mean the Lion is going to be a lot more sex frenzied to get around to all of them. The females just need it once and then they spend the rest of the time being pregnant. Same application to our ancestors, we just haven't out grown this yet.

The generalisation doesn't really apply to me either, I have almost no sex drive.
That why you have a panda as your avatar?

i find that strange, because originally my girlfriend was obsessed with pleasure/sex/etc, but it didn't hugely bother me, although we are both about the same now, although for a long time sex wasn't important to either of us

I have no sex life and I don't obssess over it. I'll have sex when I find the right girl to be with, or if I get too drunk and end up in a one night stand. That's that. I don't see why we men have to obssess over sex because of the stereotype, and I'm glad to see that this isn't the case. As for women obsessing over sex, I really can't say. I have no idea what women think...

Biologically speaking men are more efficient reproducers because a man can impregnate many women through promiscuity but a woman cannot become more reproductively efficient by mating with more than one male in a short span of time. This is also why it is traditional for men to fight in war and women stay at home to make more warriors. Look its science ppl. :p

Well, there are exceptions to every rule. Not every man thinks about sex every minute of the day, and some women do think about it pretty often.

Doesn't even have to be about actual sex, either. Most women who see a guy they think is good looking note his good looks, might comment, then move on. Many men who see an attractive women go as far as mentally undressing them. It's just the way men tend to think; part of it also has to do with men and their competitive nature. Men want to take what they see as the best prize for themselves, even if it's just in their minds.

ITT: OP tells the internet that girls like him.

Meh, I say it's a personality thing, some people are just more highly sexed than others.

Cause women are much more subtle about it.
Sorry, I just shot milk out of my nose.
But, in reality it seems to both sexes that can be obsessed with sex, just depends on the person.

In my experience with other guys (Co-workers, Friends, Brother, Brother's friends), they are always talking about girls and doing them and who is hotter. I think the stereotype is there for a reason. It kinda pisses me off because I'm not like that at all. I'm a lot like Panda actually. It gives me a bit of a 3rd person perspective on the whole situation.
