First off I'd like to apologize for the bad pun in the title (combining the words "why" and "aion") not my best work...

Now the point of this thread is just to ask the general population of players this :

Why Aion? I'm a potential player, and also quite broke so I really want to make the right decision while picking my next MMORPG. So I would absolutely love (and be very thankful for) a list of feedback and reasons why Aion is good, or even things that could turn a player off from the game. I really need help making this decision.

Before you guys begin, I would like to just point out that personally I love a game that I can play very casually (due to lack of tons of personal time) and easy to pick up and just play. Also, I just want to say that the last MMO I played was WoW, so maybe give me some tips about how the transition is?

Thank you very much in advance.

My question would be: Why did you leave WoW? That might give us an indication of what you're NOT looking for in your next MMO.

I only played the Aion beta. It's not bad. Very linear near the start, and potentially quite grindy thereon. The wings are a nice addition once you get to level 10. The genius of WoW's early sections is making you feel kind of important and relevant to the overarching story right from the beginning. You don't get that with Aion. Feels more like obligatory training. The combat is fairly standard fare, although I did build up some nifty combos with my rogue. The fights are meaty and the enemies are not to be trifled with. The graphics are pretty and fairly distinctive, eschewing the 'realism' of, say, AoC and LotRO. Closer to Warhammer.

If you're coming from WoW then you'll have no probs adapting to Aion's UI. It's even simpler if anything. It all depends on why you're leaving WoW - just for a change of scenery?

leaving WoW for a bit more than just the scnery... I need a new game, something fresh but that also engrosses me and keeps me excited like WoW has in the past. Something I'll WANT to play until endgame AND even put in hours into the endgame content.

Well, I only played the beta so I can't really speak for Aion's endgame. Personally, the only MMO I've found as engrossing, atmospheric and alive as WoW has been LotRO. But if you're into your PvP this is not an option, and perhaps it's worth giving Aion a go. At least until Cataclysm comes out.

I would suggest waiting a while. A friend told me yesterday that he had a 3 hour queue before he was able to play, there's also the chance of a trial coming out soon so you can decide for yourself.
