Wierd Virus

Not enough data sadly to suggest a cure.

So go with a general malware scrubber. Sadly I can't remember what I had used to get rid of a very tricky, and similar to what some people here have said, virus. Prior to it the only removal I could find was by hand, and let me tell you it isn't easy to remove a virus by hand if it is well written.

This one was... till that day I had never seen one that could boot up in safe mode! That made removing it a *****, let me tell you.

I am leaning towards nuke something or other... sorry, memory never was good.

Use Spybot or format it.

A good format never fails.

It's called malware. Basically, it pops up to try and scare you into downloading their shit.
Just click no to everything it says. Better yet, don't even do that, push Alt+F4 immediately, because in some cases, even if you click "no", the thing will download anyways.

There's tons of tutorials on how to remove them, just look up what the thing is called.

A good re-format will nip it in the ass. Hope you don't have any important files you were hoping to keep if that's the route you take though (from what it sounds like,copying it to an external already isn't an option).
