Maybe I just have a large vocabulary but those seem like pretty normal words. Except for Jipijapa, you got me there.

Nonchalant, Xanadu (because of the movie) and maraud I have heard of, the others just seem a little bit strange to use in everyday language. Although some of those words look like they might be cool/interesting to use in a title for a book... (ctrl + c)

Edit: Sorry, missed one. I also recognise omphalorrhagia from my medical dictionary.

Edit: edit: And profanation.

my AP euro teacher told me that when he took his semester abroad, he went to Russia (cold war era USSR Russia) and at Moscow University one of the vocab words he received was intercontinental ballistic missile.

They aren't hard. Not basic, but even I, as a non-native English speaking person know them.

Xanadu and jipijapa were the ones that caught me out on first glance. But then I do read a lot, so perhaps my expanded vocabulary is a result of that.

Defenestration - The act of throwing someone out a window.

That's a really specific word.

You caught that to eh!
All I got for a weird word is:

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!
Even though the sound of it
Is something quite atrocious
If you say it loud enough
You'll always sound precocious
Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!

I love threatening people with defenestration, you get a lot of blank looks.

I get a lot of quizzical brows when I refer to mastication however :p

Quite a few of those words don't seem like generic terms used by most adults on a day-to-day basis (some are even specilist medical, occupational or lexical vocabulary).

I wouldn't doubt someone's intelligence for not knowing those words.

Not that I want to join in with all the vocab dickwaving but I'm suprised how many of those words I've actually used before. Loving the irony on number 28 there.

Jipijapa: noun. Inane or unhelpful talk (colloquial). "Quit yo' jipijapa, fool!"
