I like playing the Wii, yet I hate the Wii-mote. So I had an idea, what if Nintendo remodeled the N64's controller? Almost everyone I have ever talked to loved that controller, so why not have an updated version of the Wavebird replace the lackluster Wii-mote? Take the Wavebird's bold trident, design add another joystick, reconfigure the general layout and there you go. The beauty of this idea is that the design of the 64 controller would work well with the motion sensor of the Wii and allow for normal gameplay. All of this with one wireless controller. I think its a good idea.

The Wii's major selling point the MOTION CONTROL, if it was scrapped then the wii would just be another system with no outstanding features, also why would they do that just because YOU don't like the wiimote, I love the damn thing.

I do enjoy the Wii-Mote when used properly in games, though I would not mind having a more traditional controller with go with the Wii for games that don't work well on the Wii. I say to Nintendo, improve the Wii-Mote's motion sensing and release a traditional controller. I know about the Gamecube and Classic controllers, but they are rarley used.

If you had a re-modeled N64 controller how would you do motion control? Like SIXAXIS on PS3?

I disagree. It isn't simply motion control that makes the Wii unique. I bought a Wii for the innovative gameplay and the emphasis on fun rather than graphics. I also have a PS3, I feel they balance each other well.

Personally I loved the N64 controller and would by one for the Wii if I could.

Hell no, the basic design of the N64' controller is like a Wiimote with 2 other side grips if you take a 64 controller and hold it like a Wiimote it actually works. However, that's only what I think.

Yes, I agree with you but still you have to admit the motion control is a huge part of the Wii and if the motion control was gone some people wouldn't buy it

SO it's a wiimote that looks like a N64 Controller

Then that sound pretty cool you just have to involve specifics, you didn't say was exactly what it would be like so i got confused

The N64 controller was ok, but the joystick was a piece of arse. Which is why I configured my Xbox controller to work with my N64.

I don't get all the hate over the wiimote; I like the wiimote, it's really adaptable and simple. The button layout is a bit weird, but it works with all the games I've played.

I don't see why somebody would get a wii then complain about the controller. Isn't the whole point of the system the controller?

yeah, I hated the N64 controller. Almost everyone I knew hated the controller too back in the day. I thought it was poorly thought out, and the analog stick always broke within a month or two... plus, nowadays, we're used to two shoulder buttons, r1 and r2 or rt and rb or r and z on gamecube or c and z on the nunchuck.

the only reason we sometimes think fondly of the N64 controller is because it is still the best controller for 3D zelda adventures. Just like some games are perfect with the gamecube controller, like smash bros, but others, like Zelda, sucked with the gc controller. I liked the wiimote for Twilight Princess, but I still think that the best controller for every 3D zelda is N64. Other than that, there are few games that really felt perfect on the N64 controller.

I just wish that more games would allow for GC controller compatibility or classic controller, just in case I feel like more standardized controls.

Anyways, if you really need the N64 controller, try doing a google search first, unless you like getting flamed on forums for some reason.
here's an adapter cable for you: http://www.raphnetshop.com/products/n64_to_wii/index.php

Thanks but I don't need it. My old one still works.

I say the same, though I'm a Wii/360 user myself.

Also I didn't hate the N64 controller, in fact I think the only controller I've ever said "wow this sucks" was the original XBox controller.

Seconded. Part of the Wii is about getting non-gamers to play. Whenever I handed a friend/relative who didn't play games an N64 controller, they looked at it like it just spoke to them and ended up holding it wrong and trying to use the stick by s t r e t c h i n g their hand. Poor design there.
