Why has this not been created? the first time ANYONE picks up either wand they pretend its a lightsaber!
and it's not as if there is no basis for this already

Does that mean they couldn't make it better?Durxom said:Have you tried playing that game?
It's not nearly as good as it looks/sounds. =S
That's because its "The Force Unleashed"...there is almost no emphasis on the lightsaber in either game(Wii version or not), focusing more on the force powers. If you wanted Wii controlled lightsabers for the game, you would have to go and completely redesign it.Tipsy Giant said:Does that mean they couldn't make it better?Durxom said:Have you tried playing that game?

It just seems that even back then they saw the joystick and thought "hmmm that looks a bit like a lightsaber" and now they can't put 2 an 2 together, in force unleashed waggling controlled force powers and not the lightsaber C'MON!
I dunno I think it could work in 3rd person, you could move with the nunchuck and use the lightsaber to fight with and it should be that if the lightsaber touches the opponents it slices them like a real sword, this would give some wicked boss battles of LS vs LS with blocking attacks and countering trying to get that one slice, i'd buy itDurxom said:That's because its "The Force Unleashed"...there is almost no emphasis on the lightsaber in either game(Wii version or not), focusing more on the force powers. The only way I can see the lightsaber motion control working is either for:
1) A minigame like is shown in your video
or
2) In a new Star Wars: Jedi Knight game
..and even with the 2nd choice, its a lot easier to just use the damn thing in 3rd person anyway, which destroys the point
So like I said...basically a new Jedi Knight game, but with Twilight Princess style controls? xDTipsy Giant said:-snip-
See that combat is too fast, there is no finesse, i'm talking about this style of sword fightingDurxom said:So like I said...basically a new Jedi Knight game, but with Twilight Princess style controls? xDTipsy Giant said:-snip-
Yes that would probably work, but the likelihood have that happening now with The Force Unleashed out is slim to none.
You probably aren't going to see that type of old-fashioned swordplay with any lightsabers anymore, because once the prequels came out, that sort of style got deemed as "not cool" and "teh gayz" in favor of the more fast choreographed stuff =S It's sad but its true.Tipsy Giant said:See that combat is too fast, there is no finesse, i'm talking about this style of sword fightingDurxom said:So like I said...basically a new Jedi Knight game, but with Twilight Princess style controls? xDTipsy Giant said:-snip-

and therein lies my problem, how can a lightsaber touch you and not go straight through your flesh and bone?Durxom said:You probably aren't going to see that type of old-fashioned swordplay with any lightsabers anymore, because once the prequels came out, that sort of style got deemed as "not cool" and "teh gayz" in favor of the more fast choreographed stuff =S It's sad but its true.Tipsy Giant said:See that combat is too fast, there is no finesse, i'm talking about this style of sword fightingDurxom said:So like I said...basically a new Jedi Knight game, but with Twilight Princess style controls? xDTipsy Giant said:-snip-

And while yes, the Jedi Academy stuff was fast..ish...you still got to choose your style of combat, which is probably the best lightsaber gameplay you will get.
If you used a single saber, you got the choice of 3 styles:
Fast - which is more akin to the new movies, which does lots of flurrying attacks, but the damage is minimal
Medium - which is more like the Luke vs Vader fight in VI, which is well..medium..somewhat fast, and somewhat strong
Strong - which is like the video you showed, slow but more powerful killing blow swings, but provides little defense
And then on top of that, you had the choice of using dual sabers, or double-bladed as well, each with their own attributes.
Um, what version of TFU did you guys play? Because I have the Wii version, and you waggle the wiimote for the lightsaber moves, and use a combination of nunchuck waggle and button presses for the force powers. It wasn't 1:1 lightsaber movement, but there was no button mashing involved, unless you count occasionally pressing a button to throw the saber "button mashing."Durxom said:That's because its "The Force Unleashed"...there is almost no emphasis on the lightsaber in either game(Wii version or not), focusing more on the force powers.
