I'm not sure there's a market for a new console in this economy. We're probably going to see a return to the longer console cycles.

I don't think that's going to happen either. I mean, Microsoft will get project natal, but I don't think it's going to be that big a deal. I can't see it working for any existing genres outside of maybe RTS, though if they could get eye tracking working, that'd be cool for the sake of 3D. "No buttons or controller" doesn't neccesarially mean simple. I can think of a few situations where toggling an analog stick would be more intuitive than "climbing" a screen.

But no, I don't think Microsoft's project Natal is an equivalent to the Wiimote.

i mean when microsoft releases natal late next year, everyone will just say "fuck motion plus" and return all their wiis
and then everyone will buy a 360 and it will sell like 70 million in a week and the wii will just disappear off the face of the planet and all its games will just be ported to the 360 with better graphics

anyway, i doubt the wii 2 will just be a wii with hd and wont be coming for a while
like reggie recently told the media that they've developed a new handheld but havent needed to release it cause the ds is still doing very well

as for wii, he says the next console will only come when he feels that they need more than a wii for the games they want and he doubts that will happen for a long time
plus, we all know this generation will last a lot longer than previous generations

I'm terribly afraid Natal. Not because I'm afraid its Skynet but because I'm afraid I might have responsibilities to it.
I also don't think its the next Wii remote because you can't truly upstage someone by just doing the same thing but slightly different.

On the flip side, does anyone really care about motion plus? More accurate tracking shouldn't make for a better game. I mean, I don't know how to swordfight, so 1 to 1 "sword-tracking" wouldn't be all that fun. Either they make a game that only caters to professonal sword fighters or they simplify it to a game of rock paper scissors, ala Redsteel, and the 1 to 1 tracking doesn't matter.

Plus there's no way you can feel the AI player can parry your attacks, so even with 1 to 1 tracking, there'd have to be a discrepancy between your hand's position and the onsceen sword.

I don't see motionplus as being the wiimote's awesome mode.

Graphics aren't the reason I don't want a Wii (Though it does look pretty bad.
I don't want a Wii because there is nothing appealing to me about the games.

I don't care about Mario, or Link, or anything else on that system.
So I'd rather not waste the money on something I won't play.

You're thinking of Peter Molyneux's new "nongame" project, not the device itself.

And, again, for better or worse a motion tracking webcam is not the same as the wiimote. If anything, they're copying sony's eyetoy which has been around longer. And no, in advance, the original gameboy camera did not do anything track motion. You just used it to put stickers on top of some games.

I already have a Wii that hardly gets any attention these days, I don't need another dust magnet that plays games on a slightly higher definition. I don't care about graphics, that's part of the reason I have a Wii. I also have a high-end PC, and if I want good graphics I'll just play Crysis with a Wiimote.

I always disagreed with wii haters in the past, but that was when there were a few good games out. Nothing has come out recently that I find interesting. I was looking forward to the Wiimote+ addon, despite it's rip-offishness, but with nothing good to try it out on in the near future besides another Super Mario Galaxy I don't see the point.

Make more decent games. I haven't seen a good one hit the shelves in a long time; I don't want to play shitty games on a higher definition.

well what i meant is that anyone who wanted better controls than standard wiimote will just buy motion plus which is out now rather than wait 1 and a half years for natal

as for motion plus working, you dont need to be a skilled swordfighter, you just need to look at the wii sports resort swordfighting demo to see anyone could do it - it just works
and we're now at the stage where proper games have stopped using the rock paper scissors method or the waggle tastic method, either a button or m+ unless the motion fits

Well someone has a stick up their ass when it comes to defending a console that hasn't released a good game in a long time.

Microsoft has already grasped the concept of HD, and now they are making an equivalent to the Wii, that basically just gets rid of the Wii-mote. And from what they've released, it's a hell of a lot more social too.

This will start a chain-reaction, and cause the PS3 to make something faster, higher quality, more social, and more creative.

Basically all I'm saying is, if the Wii doesn't pick up it's ass, and get with the race, it's going to fall. Hard.

Plus OT- They Wii should be working on games, not better definition. I don't want to be playing silly games on better quality.

That would require Nintendo to..

1-Make a new Wii-Fit board with astounding features that makes it appear so much better than the first one.

and

2- Make a Wii-Fit that has more routines than the first one..which means they would have to be very creative. Which Nintendo lacks in my opinion <.<

Plus, that is only one, of few, exclusives they could make. Right now they would have to fight Modern Warfare 2, A new MGS, 2 New Halo's, Any PS3 exclusives I'm not mentioning, but I know there are quite a few, and W/e Natal exclusives come out that will make 360 users wants Natal more, and cause them to buy it inevitably.

My fanboy is not showing. I'm just stating it's falling out of the race. I didn't literally mean that ad-on is going to outsell then entirety of sales the Wii has made. Of course I was exaggerating.

Plus, I'll have you know that I am not a 360 or PS3 fanboy.

I've always been for PC..much more freedom.

Honestly, if Nintendo gets away from this (not to mention introducing the Wii Motion Plus add-on) when Microsoft cops heat for having an Arcade SKU, and Sony cops heat for removing backwards compatibility from their hardware revisions, I'll be kind of annoyed. Maybe the Wii would benefit from HD graphics and maybe it won't, but this really is the ultimate screwing of early adopters.
Does this seem silly? Maybe. Just kind of annoyed how Nintendo seem to be the only console developer who can do no wrong in the eyes of the fans.
