From Reggie calling PSN stiff and Ubsoft speaking of accounts with EA being "excited" by it etc I think that the Wiiu is going to have one of two different online setups.
1. Very Basic Systemwide Nintendo Account with Friend list etc with 3rd parties then adding onto with their own systems like how dragon age is setup with the EA account stuff. Benefits to this is that's a very decentralised system and Nintendo could use the idea of 3rd parties getting 90-100% of the money spent on their titles' DLC etc as a form moneyhat by proxy. Downside is if it's setup wrong it could be very annoying if you have to reinput details for each publisher each game you buy.
2. Nintendo Live but with again taking a lot of third party concerns on board such as the huge wait time for getting patches out that happens on live due to how it's setup and lack of being able to distribute free content.
And being the pessimist I am I fully expect them to announce it in a way that has people raging at the top their lungs about it being crap because they do it in a very vague way by simply saying stuff like "Our system won't be heavily centralised" and nothing else for months.
