I thought this was worth noting: I just got home to find my Wii glowing at me. So, I pop it on, and head to get my messages. There's an update that has something to do with the machine locking up if you hit the Reset button while in Internet mode, so fine and dandy, let's fire the bad boy up and update.

Oho. What's this?

"IMPORTANT: If you do not want to accept this upgrade, you can shut down your Wii console and cancel the upgrade by holding down the Power Button for four (4) secons. If your Wii console has an unauthorized technical modification, this upgrade could cause inoperability of your console."

I just had mine updated the day before yesterday or so with a regular update, so this isn't standard.

Any thoughts? Seems to me like Nintendo is being awfully kind to the modding community, by providing this sort of warning with a firmware update. Ol' softies...

Edit: Nintendo did not misspell "IMPORTANT", I did... Added the 'N' where it belonged.

Dang, that's one way to deal with the mod community -- use your online service as the gestapo.

They've had this the last couple updates that I've seen.

The gestapo? That's a little extreme, isn't it? A game console is not a personal computer, after all.

Odd that you've seen it before, because of my multiple updates, this is the first time I've seen this warning. Good thing I didn't mod it, I guess.
