Ok so I?m not the biggest fan of the wii, I think it just a Gamecube with gimmicky controls and controls that are not very good at that. Plus they have completely ignored the hardcore gaming crowd, because Nintendo was pandering to the casual but, when they did decide to take notice to the hardcore crowd, and put out a rubbish third party port. Then you have the graphic that are last generation, I know graphics don?t matter but it seriously limits the designers imagination and creativity.
So as you can guess I am not a big fan of the wii but it does do one thing right, but this is something to me is quite important , the wii is about the games not being a media centre like the ps3 and Xbox. This is a very important aspect because despite feeling cast out by Nintendo they understand what they are, and what they are and what they are is a company that is trying to make fun games for as many people a possible. Now despite my distaste for the console i actually like some of the games on it like Mario galaxy or twilight princess .
This is what the other consoles are doing wrong, like the Playstation 3 has to owe a lot its success to the blue-ray player, but as far as I?m concerned all it does it adds a big chunk of money to the price tag of it, and when a game console is more expensive because it want to be a media player it get on my nerves a bit. btw just because i don?t need to change the disc doesn?t really matter, I was quite happy changing the disc like in the ps1 era.
And not forgetting the Xbox granted out of the three its cheap but if you have ever used the Xbox, the dashboard when you turn you console on the first thing on my screen is not the game some video or advertising(I will talk about that in another post) for film or TV show . plus they are in talks with TV an film providers. Ok what I trying to say it trying to be a multi media platform and they?re investing in this stuff rather than good games.
OK ill admit when it coming to the Xbox and ps3 admit i and really nit picking when I buy a console I want to just play games and that is something that Nintendo understands. So before you completely write off Nintendo, just remember Nintendo is still all about the games.
