It appears wikileaks is the victim of a DDoS attack after they put up their latest "classified" information. I think this was from the US gov't. Thoughts?

It would be funny if it turned out to be Anons who got confused as who should be the next target of Operation Payback.

"Wait, we were supposed to hit the RIAA website instead? My bad."

Wikileaks should never be taken down, as long as they keep verifying their information as 100% accurate as best they can, they're doing the world a service!

I'm getting sick of DDoS attacks now.

Haha, they got owned!

I don't like that website much if I'm honest with you.

Sure I'm all for dishing the dirt on those who deserve it and spreading the truth, whatever that may be, but perhaps the various governments they annoy have a point when they say that some of the stuff they leak could endanger national security and possibly put people at risk?

It could possibly endanger people, but I believe the people should know what the gov't is doing, except maybe military maneuvers and such that could affect ongoing wars. But the stuff about spying on head of state and citizens should be known. Thats just my opinion though.

ED doesn't have anything up about a raid so I doubt it's any of the chans. Probably either the US or China, the latter having the more ingrained tradition of trying to take down things that could besmirch it's holy name.

Doesn't matter anyway, documents are out.

ya they were released to news outlets by the site before hand anyways, making this attack pointless.

It's also worth noting that the danger isn't from us knowing, and the Iraqis and Afghanis already know what's going on in a lot of these cases. Since Wikileaks has been redacting the information themselves, it's the fact that we might catch on to what's going on that really offends people, not the notion that the bad guys might figure it out.

It doesn't take much to create a DDOS attack, you can easily download a client from a quick google search and find a client that allows you to do so. My guess is that it's from someone who believes the site should be shut down, but not a government entity. Most likely a extreme Nationalist sitting in their basement.
