Wild Arms and .hack. Weird.

So, I've been on a classic games kick lately (to me being PSOne games). I've been bouncing between a lot, mainly Star Ocean 2, Wild Arms 2, and Persona 3. I randomly decided to finish out .hack//GU vol. 2. I've beaten the game but want to finish getting all the extras before turning the save over to vol. 3.

So... I entered a random arena battle. Judecca, Caina, and Ptolmea are my enemies. Wait, whaaaat! Those are three characters (the "bad guys" actually) from Wild Arms 2! That's weeeird! And very very cool. And random. The fight ended way too quickly and I didn't get a good look at them so I decided to Google it to get some screens. Nothing. Am I the only one that has noticed? It is pretty obscure. Now I'm trying to find them again. ;_;

I don't think Bandai/Namco are connected to Media Vision in any way either...

I know this post might be kind of senseless for most people, but it is darned MAGIC to me!

Its not uncommon for extremely common and stereotypical characters to look the same.

on an unrelated matter, loved the .hack show, hated the games, never felt .hack-enough.

I didn't identify the characters by looks actually, but by name. In the Arena battles each team is introduced at the start of the match and given a team name. Their names were indeed Judecca, Caina, and Ptolmea, and their team name was Cocytus-1. Cocytus is the name given to the top four generals in the terrorist group Odessa in Wild Arms 2.


Off topic, I actually enjoy the games more than I did either anime. The anime is very slow paced and is kind of an acquired taste.

The teams in that arena were named without any real relation to the games storyline usually, so they probly just decided to use some names from a different game so people like you could go "Ahhh I see whatcha did there." The alternative being to name them ynow...bob, joe, and steve.


Edit: I think it could be considered an easter egg since its so obviously a wild arms reference. Good eye though, I never noticed that when I played.
