Yes, again. You know how it is. So, I'm opening the lines for YOU to put together a working Fallout RP profile in accordance with this long-standing thread of crazy wasteland awesome. [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/540.386465-A-REALLY-Wild-Wasteland-The-Fallout-RP]

DISCLAIMER: Just to be sure, I want you guys to understand that this is gonna be weird and funny Fallout action with tongue-in-cheek humor and such-like that you'd expect from the franchise. Please go in knowing that strange things will happen, by design or by pure randomosity. Thank you.

That said, here is thine profile...

NAME: Your character's name. (Aliases apply as well if you want any.)

AGE: Your character's age.

GENDER: Your character's gender.

RACE: Any race that you think that can work in here. I'll entertain any idea that you can convince me will work. This includes the really strange ideas. Remember, this is the Wild Wasteland.

APPEARANCE: The character's appearance, which I should like to be somewhat detailed, enough so in order to paint the picture well of the person I am looking at. Pictures are helpful, but not compulsory. Unique traits and attributes that stand out are always fun too.

PERSONALITY: Same as appearance, I want you to give me a good idea of this character's mindset, how they react to things, what their temperents are, and so on. I need to know how well-grounded or NOT well-grounded a being we have here.

WEAPONS: You gimme a list of weapons relevent to your character, and I tell you whether or not it's okay to have them as per their background. Simple, no? Of course, anything that sticks out, we can negotiate if I like it. I mean, we've got a girl with a gauss rifle and the plot around THAT has been awesome.

ITEMS: I don't demand that you keep track of every niggling thing like how much ammo you have or your amount of caps. Try to paint the ups and downs of your stock in basic things with a little creativity during roleplay. This is for important things, special personal items, stuff like that. If your character uses drugs, I'd like to know what kind. If they have a Pipboy or a working radio, I would like to know that. Just anything that really sticks out.

PERKS/TRAITS/SKILLS: All the things you can do especially well, above the norm. What's your character's relevent skillset, talents, and little extras that make them special? I don't ask for stats. I ask for their uniqueness.

TRANSPORTATION: This is optional. There's means of travel around here. If you have something, tell me. If it's a car, keep it well away from Frank. Just saying.

I'm leaving this open for a while. Have fun and be creative.

Here is said sheet. Hopefully I have fixed most of the problems but if ya have a problem don't be afraid to ask me. :D

EDIT/Update.AGAIN 28/02

Real Name: Shaun Pittman. (Roll with it, I did this with most of my RPs.)
Code name: Storm. (Will use it more then his actual name.)

Age: 22.

Gender: Male.

Profession: Ex NCR Ranger, Wasteland Legend.

Race. Engineered Human/ Caucasian. (Basically he is human except people experimented on him as a baby.)

Appearance:
Hair: Light Brown, medium length, middle parted.
Eyes: Blue glowing eyes.
Build: Athletic soldier type.
Scars: Scar under the right eye and a small scar on his left middle arm from the experimental injections.
Weight: 134.
Height: 164 cms.

Clothing:
Body: NCR customized green Ranger Armor (Without mask), cross hanging around his neck.
Head: Sheriff's hat, paired with sunglasses (In Picture).
Other: Sling bag around his back. (Think like Cole from Infamous except green and has a lightning bolt on it.)

Personality: Storm is your happy-go-lucky kind of person. He tries to be happy in most situations from being shot at to being attached to a rocket and flown to another city.
He tends to warm up to any person unless they are evil, then he might talk them into doing something stupid which might lead them to their death.
Sometimes though he can just be unsocialble/anti-social with some people or in some situations.

The funny thing is that Storm can cook well and sucks at making jokes.

He also hates smoking.
Rarely uses drugs unless he has to.
Hates all bad factions.
Rarely drinks.
Doesn't like alcohol.
Has bad luck.
Gets into bad situations most of the time.

Eats a lot.
Likes good factions. (Especially the NCR and Brotherhood... in DC)
Likes melee weapons and his fists. (Which are covered in bandages)
Likes explosions.

When fighting he can keep a calm and non-serious personality, but in any situation when he gets serious he rarely speaks and looks to have no emotion on his face.
This is the situation where everyone should run for the hill.

Shaun was a vault dweller inside the Vault 76, the mysterious Vault that no one knew nothing of. The Vault experimented on the newborn babies, their goal...to turn someone into a war machine.
Shaun was a success, the higher ups in the Vault didn't want to turn him into the common rabble, they commanded his father to teach him how to kill. His single farther was the head of security and taught him from a young age how to fight and hold a sword.

He gave Shaun a katana that ran through generations of his family, the sword came from his great, great grandfather who came from Japan. When Shaun went to school he was bullied by the other kids because of his eyes and his happy-go-lucky personality, due to this he had plenty of fist fights in his later years, but he kicked their teeth out with a smile.

One unlucky day the vault was under attack by a faction known as The Enclave (The old Regime), they asked information about some people and a G.E.C.K. They didn't get what they want so they started to gun down anyone, Shaun was in the gun range with his best friend, they build a barricade to the door but while doing this Shaun's best friend was shot with a plasma pistol and died.

Shaun kept barricading the door and crying near his only friend's body. After a few hours Shaun opened the door and discovered that the whole vault was butchered. Blood was everywhere, when Shaun reached his home, the only thing he found was his Dad's body lying cold on the floor. A tear welt in Shaun's eye, but he wiped it away before he lost control. He grabbed a few of his personal things and his Dad's magnum and his own katana and ran out of the vault but also took one of the mechanics bikes with him.

When Shaun was out of fuel and strolling along a road without water he collapsed. When he came around he was surrounded by a group of NCR rangers that found the wrecked Vault and took him back to their base. After that Shaun started out as a recruit for the NCR and eventually became a renown ranger, that is how he became "Storm" due to him favoring a blade, his glowing blue eyes and speed.

After a mistake of slaughtering the group (He was 18) that butchered his vault years ago for revenge, Shaun was kicked out of the NCR, and made his way looking for a way to redeem himself. Over the years Shaun had fought for towns, factions, people and their lands. His nickname "Storm" was known in a few parts due to his reputation of destroying evil.

People say that they have seen him in many places and after a few days he stays, most of their problems disappear. No one knows where he lives, people say he lives in many houses or bases, some other say he just drifts across the nation slaying evil, one day at a time.

After the battle of the dam in New Vegas they say that Shaun played a part in it and a few years after Caesar's fall, they say that he played another part in that. Some people are inspired because of him, some people hate him and some people doesn't think he exist. Well,...they'll be proven wrong.

Primary Goal: Kill all evil.
Secondary Goals: Find the guy who stole my Nuke cola!

Weapons:
Katana. (A family heirlome from his father.)
It also has a dark blue sheath covered in green lightning
Silver Magnum.

Items:
Pip-boy 3000. (Working)
Flask full of mystery. (It can be full of anything, from oil to explosive nuka cola.)
Survival Kit. (Med-kit with Rad Away)
Sword/gun repair kit.
Bible.
Picture of his family.

Perks:
Lawbringer
Rapid Reload
Commando
Slayer

Traits:
Glowing eyes can see in the dark.
Lightning fast agility. (Known a Storm for his fast attacks)

Skills:
NCR trained him to become a ranger. (Is well trained with guns)
Father trained him the the vault. (Well trained with hand-to-hand and swords)
Good talker to good people. (To nice and good people he can talk well to them.

Transportation: Vault Bike. (A cherished bike he has cared for most of his years since he escaped the vault.)

Okay, after some thinking, I decided to give this a whirl, although the peanut gallery has mixed thoughts on this. Don't pull a David Woon and we'll be fine. You'll get a group invite soon and I - meaning me - will write in your presence into the RP at the next update...which we can discuss privately if you like for intrigue.

How many players do you currently have? As if it's as many as in the OP I don't really know how I'd stand out...

Cool! I'm resubmitting a character I proposed for the original recruitment thread (I got in too late to make the original ensemble.)

Any good?

NAME: Beryl Craw.

AGE: 55.

GENDER: Female.

RACE: White, Human

APPEARANCE: Aged 55, but looks more like 65. Has the colouring and texture of a walnut. Short grey hair, kept in an old fashioned style. Dresses in a shabby but clean, pre-war formal wear. Walks with a limp, attributed to "the weather". Has a perpetually sour expression, and is never known to smile. Has a voice appropriate for someone who has chain smoked ever since the age of nine.

PERSONALITY: Beryl is not a people's person. Everyone is a test of her patience, and that comes in a limited supply. She sees others as liabilities, to be discarded once they have served their purpose. A lifetime of betrayals, complications and screw ups has taught her not to trust easily, nor establish a dependency on others. As such, she is a volatile individual who perpetually needs a reason not to blow up in someone else's face.

At the end of the day, Beryl is just saving up for a little place where she can retire in peace, and pursue her golfing (a poor choice of sport for someone of her temperament). Shame the chance to settle down just never seems to come around. She'll do anything for a few extra caps, even willing to tolerate the presence of other people. But don't expect her to stay friendly if her financial needs contrast with the others. She is in it for the money first, and everything else comes second.

WEAPONS: Beryl depends on a "spray and pray" approach to combat. She carries a 45. auto submachine gun (a Tommy gun). For anything else, there is the 9 iron in her hand luggage.

ITEMS: A pre-war business suit. A suitcase containing a change of clothes, a few bottlecaps for travel expenses, and a few basic hair care products. A duster for longer distance journeys, and some whiskey to deal with her sore leg. Golf balls and tees.

PERKS/TRAITS/SKILLS: Beryl may be a game old bird, but her limp and her chest infection keeps her from being too active. She's neither very agile or strong. She has an exceptionally sharp mind, and is perceptive enough to see through most lies. She is surprisingly intimidating in conversation and a skilled negotiator, if only by virtue of beating her opponent down with constant glowering. She's a business woman by heart, so that is where her strengths lie.

TRANSPORTATION: Relies on public transport, where possible. Isn't one for taking the reins, and dislikes walking for too long.

My recent ping [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jr0JaXfKj68] informed me that this RP is quite reduced from the 20 it started out with or came close to in other pulls. The prospective player should not worry about population as much as profile content. I know you and I know you to be a good RPer. You would be most welcome here.

I'm guessing that Peanut gallery means the group? XD
Also what is a 'David Woon', I know the guy but what did he do?

For your information, if I'm doing something wrong just tell me in the chat or PM, I'll try to make things cool.
Well I have been RP-ing ever since I joined the escapist. :p

And sorry for not responding sooner, I had a rare event of "Internetshitiselftopieces" where I had to wait two days of no internet and plenty of time to scream at Shao Khan in Mortal kombat. -_-

And I shall send you a PM about my opening/debut.

About posting guidelines, what are the general posting rules for this RP? Is there auto hitting, and are we trusted to dictate how situations turn out? Or do we simply state what we want to happen, and then you post a follow up post telling us if we were successful?

EDIT: will be updating character profile with a character portrait, as soon as I've finished reinstalling FO:NV. EDIT EDIT: oh wait, never mind, apparently FO:NV can't permit the courier to have wrinkles.

Any recommendations or criticisms for my character?

Yes, Woon was so bad that in the Pub, I made him explode a thousand times a second...just to get the point across to him that he should stop for the love of god.

Stuff and things.
{1} The general format is "Everybody posts and then I do", meaning there is no post order except that you do stuff and then the GM reacts to it accordingly. Some have taken it a post at a time while others have made several posts for hilarity when interacting with each other. It can, at times, depend upon how much I directly control at the time.

{2} There are situations which I do not bother to control and some I do. The situation depends upon the area and the NPC. For instance, I largely don't care if you happen to blow away a few raiders, rad-creatures, or whatnot if they're unimportant. Random stuff like that appears all the time here and the wasteland somehow has an inexhaustable supply of the damn raiders. However, there are mmore important events and NPCs that you should watch out for that I will LIST for your sake, since you ask.

These are groups and/or stuff that I have direct control of.

THE ENCLAVE - If you've read at least the opening post, you've seen that a new and potentially more-lethal Enclave drives a good chunk of this plot, with at least the veiled threat of their presence around. This is the condensed group of their remaining forces stationed at and below Fort Knox. Patrols exist all over the place and while some patrols I have allowed to be taken on without asking for control, mostly I do everything with them because I radically changed them. Every member of their elite Fallout Sector is a very important NPC. Every silver-suited Omega Squad member is a Boss In Mook Clothing. Every Enclave Replicant (attack robot built directly into a powersuit) is an Elevated Mook. There are also things like Number One and the MGB, not to mention any Enclave vehicle, which I do not expect you to control much. Eyebots may be smacked around for laughs, but no reprogramming for ED-E's without high knowledge in Science, especially robotics.

ENCLAVE UNDERGROUND - The new Enclave happened because the old Enclave was deposed in a military coup by Number One. Those found unfit for duty or who would not submit to his judgement either died or ran for their lives. William night has discovered a cut-off section of Fort Knox underground that houses the remainder of the old Enclave group, led by a lady commander determined to either overthrow or survive the current Enclave by any means necessary.

THE BROTHERHOOD OF THE EAST COAST - The old Elder passed away of old age and left Sara Lyons in charge. They still operate out of the Citadel (The Pentagon) and they still control Project Purity at the Jefferson Memorial, as well as GNR with Three Dog. The DC Ruins are largely their territory with SOME mutant patrols, but less due to their coverage. As will be noted, they have some vertibirds under their control, but not many.

THE HEADS - Again, if you read the first post, you know that there is a raider group of INTELLIGENT raiders I call the Heads. They're described as a large group of madmen with cross-tattoos on their faces. They are based upon the Madness series (popular on Newgrounds) and are more intelligent than regular raiders...as well as better-stocked.

IMPORTANT NPCS - You should never EVER control important characters I've been using here. There is a small-scale Liberty Prie here called Liberty Minor which has the original big-bot's AI and memory. There is The Red Glow, a powerful red Glowing One ghoul that is this delirious white-eyed thing whom speaks like Cobra Commander. You may see him leading a bunch of ghouls somewhere. Speaking of ghouls, several people so far take jobs from Morgan Bloom, the Gentleman Ghoul, an age-old millionaire who waited out the war in his own money vaultsand uses his pre-war cash to finance things.

TWIG, BEN, AND SCAR - We have guest characters straight from the Mojave here, the three main characters of the Nuka Break online series. If you haven't seen this show, I suggest you watch for the laughs. Their reason for being HERE (aside from 'Why not?') is that there was talk of the Nuka Cola Factory being refurbished and looking for more workers to distribute the product in all of its flavors. These three ARE there and they HAVE been doing their thing...sort of. It's just that there is a myserious outbreak of Nukalurks after years of silence...

There's probably more, but this is a good start.

NAME: Johnny Truant (possibly, it sounds good enough to him, so he goes with it)

AGE: 27 (ish... he's not really sure himself... but then, if you'd been through half of what he has... you wouldn't be sure of this much either)

GENDER: male (same shape... right bits in the right places... maybe? well, he looks and seems sort of 'male-esque', so let's just go with it, shall we?)

RACE: Caucasian (I guess)

APPEARANCE: Short spiky red hair (just short of a buzz cut, really), slightly darker red goatee and five o'clock shadow (which stays firmly in place despite his numerous attempts to get rid of it... it isn't any happier about the situation than he is), he's of roughly average height (5'10" give or take a foot or... three), very gaunt and pale face, almost as though something came along and permanently drained the blood out of his face (very well could have happened, though what could've done that... I have no fucking clue), he has a long series of burn scars all over the inner side of his arms (he has a million stories for how he got them... which one you choose to believe is up to you, but keep in mind, the point of his stories is never to explain what really happened, only to help you look away... or help himself look away), he's very slender (well... always appears to be on the verge of dying from a combination of drug addiction and starvation would be more accurate) and yet... one can easily get the sense that this is not someone you'd want to fuck with. Not exactly sure if its the aforementioned grotesque scars, or the tattoos that trail along the remaining flesh on his arms, chest, and back, or if its the odd occasional twitch his eyes or fingers give at times... or if its his... odd dress sense... he wears no armor (no matter how stupidly hostile the world gets), and only goes around in a white undershirt and a dirty set of pre-war jeans that have been torn up and shredded to the point of being almost unrecognizable. Sometimes, when he can find one, he'll wear a pre-war suit jacket... and only the suit jacket... he'll leave the rest of the suit to rot. Could also be the wrinkles on his face and the hollowed-out, darkened patches of skin around his eyes that mark him both as someone who is clearly haunted... and one who tries to chase his demons away with drugs... lots and lots of drugs.

PERSONALITY: I still get these nightmares. I get them a lot. I've tried just about every chem imaginable to chase them away. Nothing's helped. Safe to say there isn't a lab, pre-war or no, that's advanced enough to come up with the kind of shit I need. A Nobel Prize to the one that invents that puppy. Sleep's been stalking me for a long time. Inevitable, I guess. Sadly, I'm not looking forward to the prospect. I say 'sadly' because I used to enjoy sleeping. Ah, those were the days. I slept all the time. If you want some idea of what's been 'haunting me', then... this little note I found among an old man's endless reams and reams of notes will tell you all you need to know: 'Jan. 5 1997. Whoever finds and publishes this work shall be entitled to all proceeds. I ask only that my name take its rightful place. Perhaps you will even prosper. If, however, you find that readers are less than sympathetic and choose to dismiss this enterprise out of hand, then may I suggest you drink plenty of alcohol, and dance in the sheets of your wedding night, for whether you know it or not, now you are truly prosperous. They say truth stands the test of time. I can think of no greater comfort than knowing this document failed such a test." Yeah... apparently not even a nuclear war could completely obliterate old man Z's greatest practical joke... and I was stupid enough to take the bait... and carry it around with me. Good god... I should've had some fucking clue what I was getting into when I started editing and compiling this damn thing. When I first saw it... I could've sworn it was capable of anything, murdering me and my friend Lewd, murdering the old man's ghoul (which it might have), even murdering you. But, after all, it was only a jumbled pile of notes, right? So I took it with me. Ugh...

WEAPONS: Fists with some martial-arts training I got from a cult in Indiana, (some boxing learned... elsewhere) and a lever-action rifle. I don't really know why I picked it up or where I got it from. Probably some ruins I found somewhere. Its in pretty good condition as far as I can tell, looks well-maintained anyway. It hasn't jammed yet, that's for certain. Maybe I took it off a redneck Enclave supporter back in D.C., though what I was doing in D.C. in the first place... I couldn't really say. I dunno. That's it though.

ITEMS: A bag full of my and old man Z's notes. Been working on that one for a while. Who knows, might add this little adventure to it. Maybe not. Aside from some extra ammo and a complete fucking lack of explosives (always wanted to use some... seems like they'd be an instant fight-winner in the right hands... or... maybe even a way to stop a fight from breaking out) Got plenty of extra paper and ink though. Also... still have a... lavish supply of chems, buffout, jet, turbo, rebound, hydra, and even some party-time mentats. Beyond that... a playing card signed 'Thumper'.

PERKS/TRAITS/SKILLS: Skills: I'm a great storyteller, or maybe people are just too willing to buy into my bullshit because it helps them turn away from the harsher reality. I dunno. Also... pretty good hand-to-hand fighter... okay with a gun, not great, but okay.

Traits: Merc with a Mouth Well, I'm not a merc, but I've got a mouth on me all right. I keep a running commentary through everything I do and everyone I talk to. Even when I probably shouldn't.

Malkavian Insight Well, I'm obviously not a vampire, but... I seem to be able to read into what everyone's thinking, maybe even see where they're headed. Or maybe I've just gotten too many rads or used too many drugs... or maybe I have my mother's crumbling biology to thank. Who knows, in any case... it seems like I can see into everyone else's head like they're an open book... or a forum post. Though... I'm not sure what the latter is. (this has no practical application, all this does is allow Johnny to comment on what everyone else is doing, even if he isn't actually there... he doesn't necessarily always act on the information he gets this way... largely because Johnny's too focused on his rambling quasi-relevant tangents to actually make use of any information he gains this way.

Perks: Old World Blues Due to my obsession with old man Z's notes... which were written hundreds of years ago, and managed to survive a fucking nuclear war... pretty safe to say that I'm obsessed with all kinds of old pre-war junk. So... I'm good with older guns... but utter crap with new ones, and can't get my head around energy weapons at all. Also... I get a little more confident when I'm holding a pre-war book (any of them), and get a little more 'charismatic' as a result. And... I got the Blues! (couldn't resist)

Sudden-Onset of Lucidity Doesn't happen a lot, but sometimes I get sober enough to manage this... its always a pain in the ass though. To get that point in the first place, sure... can't use any drugs or booze for at least three days... and its even more of a pain in the ass once I get there... for someone, usually me, but might affect someone else as well... I dunno. Anyway... during these rare moments, I can act on the information I somehow get from my Malkavian Insight.

TRANSPORTATION: Used to have a horse. Killed it getting here. Wherever 'here' is. Can't remember why I wanted to come here. Oh well.

Thanks for the info.

I have to say I'm enjoying reading through the RP posts. I have a hard time telling which character I like the most, but I think I'm going to go with to go with Abe (and his EDITOR) for sheer originality.

How far in are you?
Frank becomes really fun around the time he starts stealing people's vehicles.

Only about page 3. There are a lot of characters, so I keep having to stop and remind me who is who, but luckily the best ones are so idiosyncratic, it takes no time at all.

Isn't 22 a bit young for an ex-NCR ranger? Most of the rangers are crack troops, having gained years of training and experience. I don't think I've seen that many under 30 in FO:NV.

Well he is a bit of a special case since he was experimented on and such as a baby/child.

I mean the training he gained from his father in his early years helped him in training which probably allowed him to reach Ranger recruit status.

I'm writing his recruitment as a special case.
And he is an Ex-ranger because he saw the same Enclave squad who took down his whole vault and everyone he loved.
So it should be no surprise that he went mad and killed all of them.
Which then led to him being kicked out of the NCR in general... but he still has connections I guess.

Other then that... he's a special case.

I demand this person be released into my custody at once!

(Yeah, this is fine.)
Cool, so should I start posting, or was there a certain way you wanted my character to be introduced into the RP?

Please do not post yet. The order of operations is that I finish with all prospectives (which is at least ending with the ones Disasterchild is looking into), then membership into the group, and then my GM update to the RP. The RP is where I write you in at a manner which we can totally discuss via PM if you like.

I'm surprised this hasn't had more attention. When this first launched, dozens of people seemed to be throwing character sheets about. Where are they now?

Irritated that I stopped at around two dozen players? I dunno.
