I am absolutely stunned at how many (hopefully) great games have been and will be released this year. These are the ones I'm looking forward to the most.

Xenoblade Chronicles X
Rock Band 4

It's rare that I buy more than a few full price games a year and having multiple entries into my favorite franchises makes this the best year in gaming ever for me! Is it yours? If not, which year and which games?

Arkham Knight, Fallout 4, Witcher 3, Pillars of Eternity, Rock Band 4 and Xcom 2? It's in with a shot at least.

2016 will probably my next big year. So many great games have been delayed till then, so 2015 is kinda dry. Had Zelda U and Fire Emblem Fates been released this year, it would be a lot better for me. As far as 2015 games I've played and loved, it's only Splatoon so far, and the year is already about half over. As for upcoming games I have Star Fox, Halo 5, and I'll have to see if the new Zelda 3DS game is good or not. Batman will probably be awesome too. Just have to wait and see.

2015 may go down as an amazing year, but considering what I am interested in playing, it will just be a decent year.

Yep, 2015 is shaping up to be my favourite year so far.

Arkham Knight maybe once it becomes Goty (Preorders are a pain with this one) and I see how long you can play as Catwoman, Batgirl, and harley. I didn't mind being Batman in Arkham City, but the Catwoman missions just killed me with the brevity.
The new Assassin's Creed depending on how long you have to be the brother.
Dishonored 2 with a female protagonist option.
Samurai Warriors 4
A new Nobunaga's Ambition
New Fire Emblems
That's about it from the top of my head. only thing that I can think of that'd make the year better is a 3ds/N3ds Romance of the Three Kingdoms, or Nobunaga's ambition.

Eh, I dunno. Witcher 3's great, Ori was very good, but I haven't seen too many others I'm really excited for.

Well, I started Dark Souls 1 for the first time in January, and I've just beat Ornstein and Smough, so I might be able to start Dark Souls II in about December...
So yeah, good year of gaming for me =D

Huh... It's getting close to the halfway point of 2015 and I still haven't bought any game that has been released in 2015... Hopefully, by next month, I can finally get my Wii U on as well as buying the second Senran Kagura Burst game on the 3DS...

Other than that, at this point, all I'm waiting on the most is Star Fox Zero and Persona 5... Aw yeah!

Nah. It's shaping up to be better than recent ones, but it doesn't match some of the "Golden Years" of bygone gaming eras.

Just a few examples off the top of my head:

*1994 (Tie Fighter, Donkey Kong Country, Super Metroid, Final Fantasy VI, Sonic The Hedgehog 3, System Shock, XCOM: UFO Defense, PS1 launches in Japan)

*1998 (Half-Life, Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Banjo-Kazooie, Star Wars: Rogue Squadron, Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil 2, Spyro, Baldur's Gate, Thief, StarCraft, Pokemon Red & Blue, Grim Fandango, etc.)

*2001 (Halo: Combat Evolved, Super Smash Bros. Melee, Pikmin, Star Wars Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader, Paper Mario, Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Serious Sam, Silent Hill 2, Advance Wars, Conker's Bad Fur Day, Final Fantasy X, IL-2 Sturmovik, all three "6th Gen" consoles released)

*2007 (Team Fortress 2 [before it became a hat simulator], Bioshock, Portal, Mass Effect, Halo 3, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare [before the concept got run into the ground], The Witcher, Super Mario Galaxy, etc.)

"2011 will be the best year in gaming. 2012 will be the best year in gaming. 2013 will be the best year in gaming. 2014 will be the best year in gaming. 2015 will be the best year in gaming."

Not counting the numerous threads that ask what the best gaming year was (seemingly the most popular answers were 2001 and 2007).

I just hate this same topic every single E3 because people are hyped up on gameplay trailers. The games aren't out yet, the year isn't close to being over, give it until December before making assumptions.

Call me a grouch, but I've been grouching up these threads for years now.

No, absolutely not, sure there have been enjoyable games and there will most likely be a few more.
But my best gaming year ever? dare I say not even close.
I've seldom been following gaming as much as lately, past few years, that might be true. But my best gaming years have to be around 2005-2008 or there around. That's when I was gaming the most and had the most games to play.

Can the case really be made for 2012, 2013 or 2014? I barely remember buying any full price games during those years.

Nope. 2011/2012 are still the prime time for games for me, at least in the sense of I knew what the schedule for the year was and after playing those games out I can honestly say I enjoyed the ever loving fuck outa that year. every year since then has been somewhat around 50/50 for me. Some great games, some average, but not enough to have me whole year wide at the tv ready as ever to play some amazing games.

Ive definitely bought more fresh releases this year so far than last year altogether.

That makes it a good year in my mind.
