Isn't "Avengers for monster" the plot of roughly half the Scooby-Doo movies/specials?

Mad Monster Party [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0061931/] will forever cast its shadow over any "Universal Monsters" crossover...!

I heard Van Helsing shows up at the end played by Samuel L. Jackson and says he is here to talk about "The Monster Initiative"

Could be awesome if Dracula Untold didn't look like a steaming pile of crap. At least, from the trailers that I've seen...

Too bad The drac movie looks like crap wit ha capital C. The poster looks like some handsome playboy/male model trying to look badass. Why not actually try someone who looks rugged or menacing? Christopher Lee and Bella Lugosi weren't male supermodels and they killed it as drac and are still remembered for their portrayal of the iconic vampire.

I would be more excited about this if I didn't get a mayor vibe that Dracula Untold will be an uninteresting retelling. I am growing tired of so many movies trying to sell me the "villain as a misunderstood antihero"; or about classical mythology really being different, because "reality"... What is the point of getting into classic monsters licences if none of them will be their classical self?

But I digress here, since I haven't seen the movie (aren't really planning to do it, though). It could end up being good, but the trailers are not auspicious.

But will it be as good as when Big Bad Beetleborgs did it?

I just feel like there is very little hype for this movie and, like Man of Steel, it's better to make the bedrock movie of your franchise a really solid one instead of something that treads water and just gets the job done.

I hope it ends up Universal Monsters Vs. Cthulhu as the "Avengers" movie.

Why... It would be awesome.

DID THE POWER RANGERS AND BEETLEBORGS CROSS OVER?!

Is that an on-set behind the scenes thing? I mean I know both series were produced by Saban so they probably shared the same sets or something, but that wasn't actually an episode, right?

OT - I don't inherently hate the idea of a shared universe per se, but what are they going for with this? And why is it so many villains are starting to get their own series? There's no guarantee that something like Sinister Six is even going to break even at this point and that one makes even less sense on paper. Is this because Maleficent did so well?

Countdown until Disney sues the crap out of them for stealing their idea for a Marvel Howling Commandos movie.

OT: I don't really fault them for trying to make a business solution from monsters. Lets be honest, a good portion of the populace has a fascination with the Macabre, however without a solid idea behind the concept it will inevitably fail due to how many interpretations of monster movies there actually are. With the Avengers movie, it had the benefit of being a solid new idea to bring to the screen (outside of X-Men, which just blew anyway), so they were able to target more than just the comic book crowd with the concept.

I don't know why I know this? Maybe from a late night Ambien induced Linkara binge. But I somehow recall that yes Power Rangers and Beetleborgs did do a crossover.

As far as Universals Monsters... Orzo and Kurtzman again? These studios that are so quick to overanalyze the slightest shift in fan behavior continue to ignore the real problem sitting right in front of them? Namely these two worthless hacks.

In all honesty I am looking forward to Dracula: Untold. My biggest problem at the moment is the casting for Lord Tepes ( Was Vlad a king or was there an other title he went by?), but I am willing to give Luke Evens the benefit of the doubt until I actually see the movie. So heres hoping that it is up to my expectations.( I mean hell I enjoyed the hell out of Hercules, and I was expecting that to be a waste of time.)

I think this movie/franchise idea is going to fail. It has no backbone. You can't just grab a bunch of ideas, MASH THEM together and expect it to work.
Mashing monsters always works: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AxcM3nCsglA

I guess I'm one of the few who thinks it'll work. I'm more interested on this take of Dracula than the classical take on it and adding more monsters makes things exciting. Vampires, werewolves and Frankenstein have proven themselves to work together but that's mostly because of Kate Beckinsale.

It's also probably important to note that Tom Crews is going to star in Universal Picture's Van Helsing reboot which is also hinted at sharing the same universe as The Mummy reboot.

"..the Orci/Kurtzman deal."

This is where your red lights should start blinking.
