Before reading: This is not a MW2 hate thread.

I sometimes play MW2 occasionaly on my ps3, and still have fun with it (one of those ppl who play fairly.), and I am a bit borderline whether or not to get Black-ops but if I do decide not to get it, I would hate not to be able to play on one of my FPS online.

Or will ppl still play after Black-ops releases?

That's actually very thought-provoking.

It could happen! Some people can only wrap their heads around one epic FPS at a time. But I think the people who really meant it when they said MW2 was amazing will stay, that should be a pretty good number. Decent enough to get you into a match of any game mode at 3AM at least. xD

But I would just like to state the obvious... BLACK OPS LOOKS INCREDIBLE.

Umm, did Halo 2 die when the 360 came out and had Halo 3? No. Did CoD4 die when MW2 came out? No so why would MW2 be any different?

Activision's gonna shut down 4, tell you what; and maybe if they're greedy enough they'll close down MW2.

Is shutting down CoD4 a fact. If it is I'll be quite sad as that is my favourite CoD game online. I will be bummed, and then go on a CoD4 spree.

MW2 won't die. I'd give it about 4-5 years for the amount of players to reach the thousands.

Nope. It will probably be similar to how the community of COD 4 was affected when World at War came out. People react a lot differently to the Treyarch Call of duty games.

Certainly hope MW2 drops in price. It's been £29.70 on Amazon for the past 9 months, and that's the cheapest reliable place I can find it.

I'm interested in the game but not THAT interested. There are bundles on Steam where I can get like EIGHT highly critically acclaimed games for the same price and that's outside of sales.

Now if Steam offers a discount on MW2 if I pre-order Black Ops... hmmm

Nahh. I'll get MW2 when it drops down to £20 or if a relative buys it for me. Otherwise it just doesn't seem worth my money.

No, not yet; I'm just reading between the lines. I mean, can you honestly say that it won't show up in the Activision boardroom at least once?

It won't die. It will probably shrink. But cod 4 is still very active.
QTF. Yes when the new game comes out many people will swap, but not all. No matter how good a sequel is some people will refuse to play it. I think MW2 already proved that.

It may not be "dead" but one could hardly compare the user base. There will be people who stick around certainly but I'd expect a significant percentage will jump ship. Of course, at this point I'm a bit surprised people are still playing MW2, but I suppose not everyone gets bored or frustrated as quickly as I do.

I had black Ops on Pre order but took it off for Reach. That and Fable three. I want games that will let me have fun in single player as well. As for will it die? Hell no. mw,Cod5,and Mw2 are all Highly active communities. It won't die out for a long time.

Well it's practically the same game just updated and changed a bit. MW2 will end up like the previous COD's and retain a substantial player base. Though I will be playing Black Ops non stop after it's release.

well as much i hate modders and hacker in mw2, they were also present in the last cod games, activision could do something about it but they dont, still theres always going to be a small peprcentage of people playing the game even when its over, i mean had they shut down the cod3 servers? on xbl? i bet u people still play it, at the end only the straongest will last, and i doubt it will be BlOps, but meh, i still think the campaigns are good, although, WaW had no story at all lol, cant wait for mw3 at least.
