Will superheroines ever pose nude for Playboy?

Video game women have done it, and later Marge Simpson. Why not superheroines? It's been long overdue.

Before you could say "There's porn of that on internet," realise that a zine like Playboy gives prestige & recognition (or at least an illusion of those). While there's big "porn mags" like Hustler & Penthouse, posing nude on Playboy is like being part of an exclusive VIP club.

Of course, we should draw the line with Wonder Woman posing nude, just like Lara Croft won't. We can however start from the B or C-list superheroines like Witchblade & Lady Death. The nude spreads should drawn by more A-list artists like J. Scott Campbell or Jim Lee or Frank Cho.

There are two reasons why this might not be possible:
1) Most big comic companies like DC & Marvel are conservative, trying to keep their comics clean (never mind the brutal violence and the rampant PG-13 level sexualization depicted)

2) Every superheroine fanbase are just too conservative as well, but for different reasons; possibly out of jealousy.

So far, Cassie Hack from Hack/Slash has pose nude for Suicide Girls.

Beyond that, why not?
What's the difference between video game heroines & comic superheroines posing nude?

I doubt that superheroines will ever pose for a publication like Playboy. No matter how classy it is, DC and Marvel would never allow any character of theirs to be drawn for a centerfold in a pornographic magazine. Imagine the public outcry if, say, Storm or Supergirl appeared nude.

Besides, again, Rule 34 exists. If you MUST see your favorite superheroine nude, you can probably find it somewhere on the net.

Oh please, drop the "intelligent discussion" tag. All it really means is no jokes but this topic practically BEGS for jokes! This is no fun!

Games are happy to identify themselves as 18+, and often make that very argument when people complain about gore and violence.

The same is not true for the mainstream super hero comics, DC and Marvel are trying to maintain a family-friendly image even if some of their comics are intended for more mature audiences.

Well the latest rumor coming through is that DC wants to put PANTS on all the superheroines, so that might be less likely.

Somehow that idea seems kinda... wrong to me.

I'll just say, if you want Superheroine porn... it's out there. Don't ask me how I know that :p

I think with the sort of costumes female superheroes get stuck in, it's safe to say their creators are not worried about showing too much skin or retaining some sort of "conservative" image.

Also, I have heard many words used to describe Playboy, but I don't think "classy" has ever been at the tip of anyone's tongues.

And while we are on the subject of words, I can pick two that can describe all of the appearances of fictional characters in Playboy: profitable fanservice. Sure, a quick search on Google images can give you plenty of people's ideas of what exactly Marge Simpson's bare breasts look like, but people will always want to know what their creators think. Putting it in Playboy is simply the easiest way to gain a profit from that sort of curiosity.

Anyone who makes a guest appearance in Playboy is completely discrediting themselves and any chance they have of being considered "classy."

Also, on your point of making comics address sexuality in a non PG-13 manner, I think the very mentioning of Playboy completely discredits your argument. Do you know where the 13-and-under crowd have always gotten their dose of female sexuality? Playboy. Until the last couple of decades that have brought us the Internet, magazines like Playboy and Hustler have been where preteens and teens alike got their nudie pics so they can spend too much time in the bathroom and use up all of the tissues in the house.

So for as long as comic book makers want their heroines to be portrayed as relateable and accessible characters rather than sex toys who will show their titties to anyone who asks, no, I highly doubt they will appear in Playboy.

Also, I think if you are going to ask questions like this, why not also pose the questions of male superheroes showing up in Playgirl? I'm sure there are plenty who are just dying to know what Superman is hiding under those tights.

I would actually like to point out one small thing to you. All things considered there is actually very little nudity in a playboy. The majority of the magazine is either advertisements or articles some of which are quite intelligent.
That may be, but the OP specifically posed the question "Will superheroines ever pose nude for Playboy?" They did not ask "Will superheroines be featured in Playboy articles."

If that was sarcasm, I would like to point out that it did not go over my head. But the fact that there is less nudity in Playboy than stereotypes indicate doesn't change the fact that Playboy is still considered a pornographic magazine and cannot be sold to minors (who, by the way, comic book makers would rather keep in their demographics). It also does not change the public perception of Playboy, which is based on those same stereotypes.

The OP was trying to make the point that posing nude for Playboy would somehow help the female characters become more "grown-up," which is just ludicrous. Posing for Playboy will not make anyone take them or their femininity any more seriously. It will just make people dismiss them as smut and move on. A woman showing her boobs in public does not make her any more of a woman, just as a man waving his willy around won't make him any more of a man.

For my response to this article, I'm going to take a slightly different avenue than the lot of 'ya. I honestly don't think Marvel an/or Dark Horse and/or DC would allow their characters to appear on Nudie spreads. Here's why:

Back when Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe was getting teased out, there was this great video clip of Joker's fatality that aired at the Leipzig Games Conference. See below:

There's the obvious violence factor, but also recognize that batman, the flash, and the like were all mortal in a sense. That and if Mortal Kombat was rated M, think about the ramifications of some 5-year-old that sees batman on the cover and wants his/her mom to buy it. The parent sees ol' bats and thinks the game will be safe for kids. We all know about the batman/superman Saturday morning cartoons and what-not, it's not that far of a stretch.

Being the idol of fans young and old alike carries some ramifications. What's appropriate for adults is not exactly child's fare. And let's face it. Mileena and Kitana are smokin' hot. No kid is gonna understand that, however.

...Have you seen the Witchblade anime? That comes pretty damn close to nude. Constantly. Admittedly, it's technically a separate heroine and universe, but still.

All in all, I don't... really think this is going to happen or should happen. After all, that's what rule 34 is for. Also, I think the creators of the characters wouldn't want that being done to their characters. I could be wrong, but I don't believe they would.

For major giggles, try Bomb Queen. Definately not a hero, but if you want someone to pose in ways you are not entirely sure of, go for her.
And if you don't like it... Suit yourself.

I'm still trying to understand the appeal of nude images of fictional animated characters. Like, I can kinda understand hentai because its enacting a sexual situation. But just a drawing of boobs? I dunno I can't find the appeal in it.

Probably not, I don't think Marvel and DC would let it happen. It just seems like quite a bit of their audience is pre-teen boys and stuff. So I don't think it'll happen.

And I don't see the appeal of it anyway, just seems kinda boring to me

Why wouldn't Wonder Woman or Lara Croft? The latter of which has had a number of near-nude official pictures I think.
