right, courtesy of being over taxed for the last year ill be getting a nice lump sum of cash sometime in the next two weeks. enough to finally be able to buy a mid range pc and get back into pc gaming. my problem however is that i havent been up to date with hardware since single core cpu's (currently running intel celeron 1.7ghz) so i found a desktop pc that looks allright to me for the price .

amd quad core a8-5500 3.2ghz
4gb ddr3 1333 mhz ram
amd radeon hd 7670
1 tb harddrive (doesnt specify what kind)
and amd a75 chipset (not sure what that means)

all this weighing in at 630 euros (including mouse keyboard and 22inch monitor)
ah and also running windows 7 (found a slighter higher end pc for a similar price running intel and windows 8 but i find windows 8 very offputting)

but yes anyway.. will this do for running games? (not expecting super eyecandy ridiculous fps or anything..just smoothly playable on the whole)

Might be useful if you gave us an example of possibly the highest-specification game that you'd like to be able to run. Not that spec need be important for PC gaming, you seem to have everything you need for a whole plethora of great stuff, just need to know what you're expecting for the higher end of it.

Ok this is off topic but you got Tax back? how the hell did you get that? I have over 1000 pounds the tax office owes me and I have never seen any of it in fact they even charged me for not paying tax when I was out of the country. Absolute bastards.

fair point.. i dont expect to be playing anything much higher spec than battlefield 3..(though.. planetside 2 looks all kinds of awesome)
other than those ill likely stick to less taxing games tbh..ive got a few years worth of games to catch up on

Ok this is off topic but you got Tax back? how the hell did you get that? I have over 1000 pounds the tax office owes me and I have never seen any of it in fact they even charged me for not paying tax when I was out of the country. Absolute bastards.

im assuming your in the uk..in wich case i got my money back by calling HMRC (customs n revenue) and asking them if i was due money back...got a cheque in the mail a few months later. (now living in the netherlands where they have a handy app for getting money back every year..1100 euros for me this year)(temp work seems to get you over taxed without fail)

im assuming your in the uk..in wich case i got my money back by calling HMRC (customs n revenue) and asking them if i was due money back...got a cheque in the mail a few months later. Hmmm I may try them again but the last two times I called them up I wasted 2 hours on the phone while they passed the buck around and gave me half hearted answers er yeah we will sort it and still nothing TBH most of it is gone now. I was owed 1000 a few years ago I can only assume they used it to give themselves a bonus as legalised theft seems to be a perk of the job also yes I am in the UK, last year I should have got about 100 or so back but again nothing.

well..far as im aware..the only way to get money out of em is to nag them (i didnt even know i was owed money till the missus forced me to bother them) so yea...basically keep nagging coz they sure as hell wont give you any of theyre own volition.
