To all the PC gamers out there , I am considering getting sagerNP8170-S1 model note book the specs are the following:

Display 17.3" Full HD LED-Backlit Display with Super Glossy Surface (1920 x 1080)
Video & Graphics Card Nvidia GeForce GTX 485M GPU with 2GB GDDR5 Video Memory
CPU Processor 2nd Generation Intel® Core? i7-2630QM Processor ( 6MB L3 Cache, 2.00GHz)
Memory 8GB Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM at 1333MHz - 2 X 4GB

I've checked the reviews about it pretty much everyone is praising saying its a solid product no one posted online about any bugs or gltich's, basically it looks like a pretty flawless machine, im just wondering will this note book last in the coming years?

Provided there are no manufacturing problems it should technologically last as long as any other gaming rig. Before committing to buy it, I'd ensure it has adequate cooling. Far too many laptops have poor cooling and this can cause part failure down the track. But yeah, as far as specs go that's a lot more capable than the current gen consoles, and it seems all games are still going to be made with them in mind for some time.

There's usually a rule with PC Gaming, being that notebooks don't out-last a Desktop. In all honesty, it really depends on what you want to play, and how long you're planning to keep it.

I know about the cooling issues , i use a gaming laptop right now ( 9600 GT ) it heats pretty fast but for this one i've heard some people say that after extended gaming marathons ( 6-12 hours) it peakd at 73C I think not sure.

I plan on keeping it my main gaming rig for about 3 years possibly less because I move around alot now , once i get settled later I'd shell out for a powerful gaming PC, I also plan on playing a alot of the latest games , Crysis 2 brink metro 2033 and hopefully skyrim ( among a shit ton of other games)

Cooling and battery-life will be your main problems, and the fact that like most gaming-notebooks it will be outdated in a year and a half..

For cooling you should try and buy a cooling-pad/"fan-pad" or something the like to keep the temperature down. They work really well.

:)

I plan on keeping it on a charger while im gaming so no battery life problems, are you sure that a note book with that much power will be irrelevent in a year and a half? my current notebook I bought in the summer of 2008 and only now is it crapping out on me.

Nah, it won't be irrelevent, I'm just speaking from my own experience.
It's very easy to shorten the lifespan of those notebooks, pushing it too far and stuff like that. That's what I meant really.
At some point it will start to go slower.
Then it will just decide to take a nap, from time to time.
And then... Well, not much left.

Define pushing it too far? none of what you said happend to my current gaming note book which is 3-4 years old now , Its starting to slow down a little though possibly from having little hard disk space left, so i guess mine is just starting to die.

Sagers are nice. I've got one, the only problem is you need to make sure you get it from a reliable vendor. I'd get it from Sager themselves if I were you.

He probably means overclocking it.The notebook you mentioned should last you about 2 years before you'll have to lower the graphical details. Also, your old notebook should still run fine if you clean up your hard disk.

As long as you get this:
http://www.buy.com/prod/cooler-master-notepal-u3-notebook-cooler-with-3-fans-for-15-to-19/q/loc/101/216830894.html

You should be fine.

I have the smaller version for my 15" laptop:
http://www.buy.com/prod/cooler-master-notepal-u2-notebook-cooling-stand-black-for-14-17/q/loc/101/212199565.html

and it is great. The repositionable fans are great for directing airflow into the intake vents on the laptop. Storage is great too, since it just wraps around the laptop instead of taking more room in your bag.

If you mean that the laptop im buying could go for 2 years without having to suffer graphically too much then thats great!, I know im going to have to drop down games to medium - low in a few years and im fine with it , cleaning up my current hard drive is on my to do list but it wont make a vast improvement because of the video cards games are demanding right now.

I plan on ordering straight from sager who will deliver the laptop to my aramex mailbox in NY which will then send it on its way to me ( kuwait )
