Will we ever see the original Star Wars trilogy un-tampered by the Special Editions changes?

I have the non-special editions from when they were released on DVD. While there are a couple of changes I like in the special editions, overall I like the original versions the best.

Speaking of original versions. I have a version of the original movie that was restored by a group on the internet from an original cinema reel of Star Wars, back before it got 'A New Hope' added to it.

One of the worst changes for me was in the Blu-Ray where they have Vader scream "No" just before he saves Luke.

I still don't understand why Lucas felt the need to do that, but it ruined one of my favorite scenes in the entire series.

Still have my Star Wars VHS tapes from around 1994, been wanting to make digital copies of them for years but I still haven't gotten around to it.

I really want a blu-ray set of the original unaltered trilogy in widescreen.

I recall reading an interview with lucas quite a while ago where he talked about how quite a few parts of the original reels were edited to have the changes applied directly to them, so there is no way to remaster the OG movies.

This. I've watched them. They are great.

There is a lot to hate about the special editions, but the one that always kills me inside is the horrid CG band inside Jabba's palace. I will be happy if I never have to watch that again.

As to whether or not Disney will ever release an official version? Probably not - but this is next best thing.

Most of the stuff doesn't bother me barring the "no" in ROTJ.
I mean, quintessential scene of the entire saga, ruined.

Neither Disney or Lucas own the original unaltered Star Wars from 1977.
Even after Disney bought 21st Century Fox, the rights t that particular movie are in the hands of one of the higher ups at Fox, forgot which one.
Basically, we will NEVER see an official release of the unaltered first movie, at least not before the guy dies.

I hate the Jabba in A New Hope. Fuck that scene. Fuck the shitty CGI in that scene. I could theoretically be fine with most of the rest, but that scene makes my blood boil.

Thankfully I have a close to unaltered cut in my possession still.

I wouldn't be surprised if Lucas had it as a condition in the contract that Disney wouldn't be allowed to release an unedited version of the Original Trilogy. Honestly, I wonder why exactly he's so ashamed of it. The pirated, despecialized editions still hold up. It's not like they aged that terribly.
It's worth noting I have it on DVD because it was the bonus discs for the remastered trilogy on BD. It's not like they vanished entirely or something.

People who got rid of all their VHS players are stupid. I have a combined VHS/DVD player and I am going to keep that thing forever.
We used to call the hybrid players "idiot boxes" because they added extra points of failure and made us more money.
Got them too on DVD. The remastered specials look gorgeous even on DVD as I think it is 720P. The OGs are, I think, intentionally washed out looking.

I vaguely remember the original films having this weird blue tinge to them. Yes I am that old.
