yea its sorta sad when you have been playing wow since the *hush *hush release of the alpha / beta - I have been playing for 5 years. Just can't seem to get into ANY beta's. I am thinking the PC / system specs are limiting me. Either way, bliz puts a sour taste in my mouth, when they don't seem to care about the OG players like myself - I NEVER get into wow beta's after five years....
being a vet doesn't give you any right to get into the beta
being a vet should give me some prescient over other players - I have given much of my time and effort to improve the game over the last five years. Yes it does give me a RIGHT to get into the beta - I have earned it.....
From my understanding this beta has a sole purpose of keeping the new players who have been quitting before level 10. The starting zones and leveling zones and the way that new people learn how to play the game and their class has changed the most. In that respect you would think that they need a lot of people who think as if they were a newbie. This doesn't mean that 5 year players don't get beta keys, actually it doesn't mean anything, just proving a point of yours a little off, that you have earned a right to have a beta key. No one has earned a right, they simply were chosen by random in order to get a random sampling of people. You have to think like you are blizzard. What do you need the most to perfect your new expansion? You need good players, clueless players, amazing gaming computer specs and some crappy ass computer specs, you need all different types of people: male, female, old, young, and so on. It's mainly random. They do select certain guilds who have good raiding experience and give them a certain amount of beta keys to acquire the best raiders to test a lot of the content. They may select certain individuals who are famous or actually improve the game and its popularity with things like sites like these and so on. So yeah, you have spent the past 5 years on this game playing it, I don't know about improving it, but you have definitely enjoyed playing it. Yes, you feel you have a right to play this beta but you don't. You may still get one because you could get randomly selected too but just because you've been playing for 5 years doesn't mean you are a better candidate for beta. They need a random selection of people, so maybe they do need more 5 year players, maybe they have all of them. But not ALL 5 year players are going to get keys because blizzard isn't trying to keep 5 year players as much as they are trying to appeal to new players. So yeah, they'll need some old players, and yeah I'm sure you could evaluate the new content as if you are a new player but you're not and a lot of people think they could. So please stop bitching about how much you've played and how deserving you are because it doesn't matter, nor is it going to change anything, blizzard doesn't care.
