So, in a pathetic anti-monopoly effort, competition watchdogs have asked that there isn't a web browser in the same box as the operating system.

However, I have a big question about this: how the hell are you meant to get on the internet and download a browser if you haven't got one in the first place?

What is the point of this law, exactly? I mean, what other operating system are they competing with exactly? OSX? Linux? Isn't Linux... free?

I would actually like to not have to spend time using the hideous IE for the 2 mins it takes to get FF.

basically the web browser is optional but its just silly netscape died years ago

how would one go about browsing to the place to install the internet browser?

the normal user is too incompetent to use the command line (windows doesn't even have a wget command)

european laws are silly, so are american though...

I'm pretty sure I there's going to be an easy way to install a browser even without IE installed. No need to worry about having to download it from another computer and putting it on a flash disk. Actually, I think I read it somewhere, but I can't find it any more.
