I prefer not to browse either chan because I usually have to do it on a public computer, and it's really weird having to explain why certain pictures are on your browser.

Anyways, yeah, it seems like MS is trying to make up for Vista as soon as possible. Maybe a miracle will happen and it W7 will actually be useable at launch.
Hm, /c/ would probably be fine, although occasionally someone wanders in to stir up trouble. 2chan I'd definitely avoid though, since there are porn banners on every board.

Supposedly they're looking at moving up the launch date, they're so happy with how it's performing in beta. At least they were at one point, maybe they decided against it.

In my college, about 4 of my friends have installed w7 on their laptops. For all of them , config is :

1.8 GHz amd 64x2 turion
1 gb ram
80 gb hdd
adi radeon x1250 graphics card

so far, response has been overtly positive and each of them had vista business before. And I have to admit, vista is utter crap once you compare it to win7. But let's hope for the best.

Why? Because you already burned us with Vista! Who wants to upgrade again? I probably won't get 7 until it comes with a new computer in a few years.

A friend has the beta for 7 ( or some pirate version or something ) and tells me its quite a good deal better than Vista. Hell,he says it's better than XP.

It is. Trust me. I hate Vista, like XP, love Windows 7.

Also, there is no pirate version. It's open beta.

Have they set a proper release date yet? I'm hearing Summer/Autumn. Either way, this is definitely the OS I want my next system to be running.

As a medium gamer about to reinstall windows, I'll be playing Mass Effect, WOW, Fallout 3, and other stuff of that level or lower, what Windows would ya all suggest?

XP, Vista or 7?

I'm running a single core at about 2ghz, 4gb memory, and a 4830 ATI card.

Now that 7 is out there's no reason to install Vista unless you have a disk already.

With 4 GB of ram I would say 64 bit 7 or Vista so you can utilize it all. 32 bit OS will only use 3.25GB of ram.

Vista isn't bad, I am using it, I don't feel like paying for Windows 7 yet, even if it is a little better. It's not a LOT better.

Also good luck running Mass Effect and FO3 with a 2GZ Single core -_-

Just based on that screen shot, it looks like a dodgy version of the current Mac OS. Not a smart move.
actually it looks like a ripped off version of KDE from 10 years ago

mac osx ripped off a bunch of stuff from the *nix family, especially the gui and m$ has always had a habit of copying mac
