What the..... I just got a message that windows 7 will expire in 12 days. I DIDN'T READ THAT WHEN INSTALLED IT!!! I thought it would last forever! I've got no other versions of windows! I will lose everything! Damn you Microsoft.

It does clearly state on the download site that the Windows 7 RC is not permanent and will expire when it is released commercially.

That is all.
It's also a bit of a gamble to rely solely on a beta (or RC as the case may be) without a retail copy of any OS as a backup.

That's beta for sure.

They did say you will have time till June/July.

RC is till March.

Ahem...I didn't even know Windows 7 was out yet
It's not. Hence the prerelease betas and release candidates expiring.

OP: If you weren't aware of the expiry period of a beta or RC release, you shouldn't be using them.

Just get an older copy of an OS until you have enough money to get the latest versions etc.

I'm sure a copy of Windows XP office/home edition can't amount to too much these days, what with Vista, 7, Windows 17: Time-traveler edition, Nazi Regime: Third Reich Edition of Windows all kicking about
