Better compatibility with older 16 bit and 32 bit apps
This. I understand 64 bit versions of Linux support 16 bit Windows programs through WiNE. To get a 16 bit Windows program running in modern versions of Windows, you need to run a full virtual machine with an actual old edition of Windows installed on it. And then if it's one of the ones from the late 90's that required 3D acceleration to even install, you're usually still SOL, because the vast majority of VM software out there was made with business use in mind, and has /terrible/ direct 3D support, if any at all. It's inexcusable to have that many hoops to jump through to get backwards compatibility with your own library of older software when your competitor does it with an overlay that treats it like a native application.
