Windows 8 and gaming

I'm running Windows 8 RTM on my desktop and on a notebook.

It's great on both computers. Faster than 7. Gaming has been just fine on my desktop.

They also both have Classic shell which lets them boot directly to the desktop and brings back the start button. The desktop is using the Metro start menu and my notebook is using the standard 7 start because the resolution isn't that high.

That is the most hilarious thing I have ever read. Windows has an estimated marketshare of 70%.

If tablet operating systems are considered then they have a market share of around 30%. As the line between laptops and phones becomes more blurred, all bets are off.

OT: From what I've seen at work it looks more designed for tablets, but is pretty beautiful compared to its predecessors. I can't see it becoming that huge for desktops or being adopted by businesses or game developers. It looks like 7 is going to become the new XP and 8 the new Vista that no-one wants to use for anything serious.

I have no doubt that it will run smoother and better than windows 7 but I won't touch it until I figure out how to rid myself of that UI. I love my Start button, if it ain't broke then don't 'fix' it.
