Has anyone tried this out? I just picked up the developer for my laptop to see if they did anything right...

The vibe I am getting from Windows 8 is this - If you are not running it on a tablet with touch capability.. you are doing something wrong. Windows 8 makes this readily apparent. I'm really unsure what they were thinking unless this is really not supposed to be a standard PC operating system. The Metro UI is annoying and you are literally forced to use the UI if you are running 8.

Here's my ultimate kicker for windows 8. I was getting angry at it and it is late so I was like.. fuck it - I'll mess with it tomorrow to see if I can find it's redeeming qualities. So I go to turn it off... Where is the shut down feature? They have hidden the shut down feature. In order to shut down the device you have to hover on the bottom left corner of the screen until a context menu shows up and then you click settings to open a widget on the side of your screen where you can shut down the device.

When I have to Google how to shut down Windows 8 - something went wrong.

This is a developer preview intended to showcase the Metro UI and to get developers used to the Metro API, so when Windows 8 is released, people will know how to actually make Metro apps. Of COURSE they're gonna stuff it full of Metro.

This isn't even a beta release for testing; this is long before Windows 8 is feature complete.

The full release, I'm sure, will make it a lot easier to choose between Metro and Aero. They wouldn't claim it's easy to switch between the two if they didn't.

Beta is beta bud. By the way, just try developing something on that hot mess. The grease image is warranted, since you will be smashing your face on the floor shortly thereafter.
