I was just talking to my friend about Windows and we came up with the question... Does anyone still use Windows 98? In particular use it online still?

Hehehe

Using it online would be pretty much instant murder for the computer. That said, I still use Windows 98 on my old laptop. It plays my old games and it also has some of my stories still on it.. Terrible laptop, good memories.

My dad has a laptop that runs 98. It has a 8Gb hard drive, 256Mb of RAM and a 800x600 display he uses the built in dial-up modem to check the tides down at their beach house. It also plays System Shock 2 flawlessly.

The place I used to work had a couple machines running 98. Mostly ancient CNC machines and stuff. Nothing online.

Ive still got a comp running windows 95, I have no idea why I keep it around or if it'll even boot up these days. Cant bring myself to throw it out, I feel sorry for it, it looks so simple and helpless compared to the monster I use for games/3D design.

I doubt any Windows 98 computer could handle most regular websites these days.

I would totally keep one handy to play games like System Shock without issue, though.

They've got System Shock 2 running nearly perfectly on Windows 7 now, so you don't even need it for that.
That is good news, given that I am in the process of waiting for a check to clear and buying up parts for a new PC and slapping Windows 7 on that.

if you have a old exe file simply drag it to the shortcut/DOSbox program it will start your game automatically

with the exception of old people who don,t want to or don,t need to upgrade and retro gamers I don,t think it,s still used
