I now have a new number 1 for stupidest thing done.

I deleted my ID which I don't really mind about but when I found out it affected my Xbox Live Gamertag things got messy. I made a new one but I realized that this new one wouldn't help.

Sorry if this seems rushed but right now I'm in 'Oh Fuck!!!' mode. So my problem is:how do I recover the originally deleted ID. I mean my Windows Live Messenger account is still there with friends and the whole she-bang but I can't seem to login as myself!

So, what I make of that is you can't log in to XBL because you... can't remember your Windows Live ID? Or don't remember your Windows Live ID and can't log in via a website? Sorry, your post leaves me feeling as if I could be wrong.

If you can't remember your Windows Live ID, you should be able to input an email to which they'll send a reset link (unless you haven't linked an email). If not, then you should have a secret question to answer, or personal information. From there, you should be able to figure out your ID that goes with it. I've closed my Windows Live ID for a stupid reason, however I need to use that closed ID to once again get into my Xbox Live Account properly. My problem is I have no idea how to retrieve it even when it said something about a 270 days safe date.

I've tried making a new Windows Live ID with the same e-mail (as I assumed that it would no longer be registered) but it said that this ID was in use with another Gamertag. Funny thing is that that other account is mine. I need to retrieve my old ID so I can once again login with it.

The only thing I can think of is calling Microsoft/XBL Customer Service and seeing if they can't directly attach a new Live ID to your XBL account so that you can log in. I'm not sure if something like that is possible, but they should be able to link or otherwise aid you here on their end so that you can get back in action.

I've filed a ticket and I'm patiently waiting. Hopefully it works out but with some of the comments I read about Customer Service... >.>

EDIT:Well it's been quite long enough (I'd expect a fairly quick reply of 24 hours) so I've decided to stop thinking about it and hopefully something good comes my way.
