I woke up this morning and started up my computer like I always do. It's been slow lately so I thought that I would turn it off to give it a rest. Something happened and now the "Windows Security Center" won't turn back on. I'm obviously not the most computer smart person, so for those of you who are...What the hell happened?

Is "windows security center" by any chance Microsoft Security Essentials, the MS anti virus? I had it happen twice last week where it doesn't show up on the taskbar but don't worry the process is running and your computer is protected.

Dunno if this is what you mean though?

Edit:I'm an idiot, it's not the same thing. Disregard my advice.

Okay, you know what. I'm an idiot. I'm running AVG, not Windows. I'm REALLY not good with computers.

I'd love to help but I'm not exactly sure what your problem is. Security Center just checks if your OS/anti virus is up to date and warns you if it isn't. It doesn't scan for malicious programs. Are you using Windows XP or Vista/7?

If you have AVG and a firewall you should be all right.
