Ok so I am 16 and I am getting wisdom teeth coming through on both sides, a couple of weeks ago it was just a little chunk coming through, but now loads of it has come right through, its not causing me pain but I have heard most people get theirs removed and it is extremely painful, does anyone have any experience with this? Am I in for a rough ride?

I hope I don't have to get mine removed although my dad says that my dentist said that joanne said that tom said to john that my wisdom teeth has already grown in but I feel another one at my top left, hopefully it grows in gracefuly
It's not that bad, break your hand and then all you will think about is your broken hand

Wisdom teeth can come through normally and just fine provided your jaw can accomodate them. I would advise you to check with a dentist to make sure they are coming in straight and are not impacted in any way. If there are any problems, most likely they will want to yank them. If not it will be painful for a few days to a week or so depending..
I do agree that it does seem a bit early for them to be coming in at 16.

They can come through quite normally, I have a couple of them, and they sit there as regular teeth not causing me any trouble. However, they're apparently also pretty weak, as in there's more risk they'll start rotting, which is also the reason why my mum had to have them pulled. Sure they grew in just fine with her, but they started decaying so quickly. I'll just brush them a lot.Liberaliter said:

From the middle of your mouth, on either side you should have three flat teeth (two incisors and a canine), then two small, circular ones (premolars), then two big, flat ones (molars). Your wisdom teeth will be growing in if you are getting a THIRD pair of big, flat ones at the back.

Most of my friends thought they were getting wisdom teeth this year, I can't tell how many times I've counted teeth and disappointed somebody with the news that it's only their second molars. If you actually are getting wisdom teeth at that age, I'd say an immediate dentist appointment is necessary to check out your jaw structure and if it's safe to allow them to grow.

it can hurt a lot and it can't. it really depends on your pain tolerance. my best advice is to tell them to knock you out completely. also for healing stock up on frozen peas and corn or you can also use freezies or slush pops [http://www.kiskofreezies.com/products/Mr_Freeze.asp] cause you can at least freeze and refreeze them with little difficulty. you also won't be able to eat solid food for a few days, so get lots of soup.

I had mine surgically removed when I was about 16. Mine were "impacted" meaning they were coming in sideways and pushing on my other teeth. Was sedated for the surgery so no pain there, but like many of the other comments I had discomfort and pain killers for the next few days. Very normal procedure to have done.
They are, my dentist confirmed for me. But then again I had spots and facial hair very early on as well xDstaggs said:

Does anyone know what the point of them is? Some people go forever without them, so it seems they're kind of pointless.
