You can include my vote for Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, although I do really like quite a lot of the games.

As I've said before, I'm really looking forward to Sonic Generations. Only a few more days now!

Good question. Despite what some people would say, there are a ton of really good Sonic games to choose from, and they each bring something unique to the table. I think I'll go with Sonic 3 & Knuckles. Great level design, great use of characters (And a perfect example of why SEGA should at least bring Tails and Knuckles back as fully playable characters) fun power-ups, awesome music, and I actually feel incentive to get the Chaos Emeralds.

But if I were to ignore my sense of judgement and focus on nostalgia, I'd go with Sonic 2 and Sonic Adventure 1. For me, these were the two definitive Sonic games growing up. And Sonic 2 has Casino Night Zone, which is about as 90's as you can get.

Sonic and Tails/ Sonic 2. The last game that had no major screw ups and a decent A.I. partner. While I LOVE the adventure series they took some of the attention away from sonic and gave Knuckles retarded missions. After Generations they need to bring Tails back as a partner.

Yes, SA:2 Battle was the last great Sonic game.

While the motivation for Knuckles' missions wasn't so good, basically being repeated, I liked the free roam aspect it gave him.

That said, I loved the free roam in the first Sonic: Adventure. I also liked how if you went to Emerald Island throughout the story, you could see the Master Emerald slowly being rebuilt.

OP beat me to it. Gameplay, and music were aweomse. Plus I loved the Chao Gardens. Lawl.

Those chao were my life!

Especially since I had friends who played the game, so we'd all take our Gamecube memory cards and battle our chao in the karate tournaments and races. Sigh... truly a golden age in my childhood.

Throw my vote in for Sonic Adventure 2 Battle as well. The one on Gamecube.

My brother and I totaled well over 500 matches played of the multiplayer in that game. I forgot the exact number, but we loved it. And I beat the single player I couldn't tell you how many times, it was amazing. And the story was pretty good, to boot! Sure, it was overacted and some of the voices were annoying but way back then I was genuinely interested in its happenings, unlike most other games back then. And the treasure hunting levels weren't really all that fun, but the rest of the game blew me away.

Sonic Adventure 1 was OK. I did eventually beat it but I hated playing as Big the Cat so much, and the rest of the game was kind of bluh.

And then I'm also going to give Sonic Rush a very honorable mention. It's in my house somewhere, and I can't fucking find it. It was the only game I got when I got my DS and I beat it tons of times.

Well, I loved the first Sonic Adventure. Then again, I played the director's cut. According to my friend (who played the original) the director's cut was much better. I'll take his word for it.

I've actually never played a significant amount of any Sonic game.

I've started Sonic 1 dozens of times, but never got past the second world. I played a bunch of Sonic Adventure, and a fair amount of Sonic Colors, but only bits and pieces of other games.
