I remember the days of playing Populous : The Beginning and spending hours on end messing about with the land manipulation spells I had. No doubt Populous was an excellent game, and there were many older games that were just as good.

Personally I'd love a new Populous game to come out, what they could do with it with todays graphics, gameplay innovation etc. etc. would surely make an amazing game. But I'm more interested in your opinions. So I was wondering what old games you guys would like to see remade, or the franchise started up again?

Very true. It would still be fun, like for a download on the PS3 store or Xbox Marketplace. I'd buy it.

I had to play that game on a computer and use save points. The furthest I got without a save point (I didn't know I could) was after the first little racing part.

A Phantasy Star game which isn't a remake of the old ones and has extra features. Phantasy Star Universe just didn't cut it...

to be honest it depends how far back we go, the old 2d games don't really work in 3d as sonic continues to show us, but i dunno, baldurs gate? dark colony? id love to see a new generation of the theme games (park and hospital) or even best of all just bring back bullfrog so they can make dungeon keeper again!

Croc: Legend of the Gobbos (FTW I might add).
We need more platformers in the mixture of today's games, currently overflowing with FPS's.

I concur. A remake of rayman. Proven already by rayman 3: hoodlum havok that it runs well in 3d, it would look truly awesome in today's graphics, and using some of the new tech', there could be an epic storyline, new moves, new characters and everything! it would be awesome...I just bought rayman the original for my PC (cause its the first game i ever played) and it really does need an update. *eyes glaze over*

I think I'm right in saying that Half-Life is having a mod made so you can play the whole of the first game in the Source engine.

Try "Black Mesa" in a search engine.

Also I'd love to see "Probotector" remade. Or "Streets of Rage".

WH40K: Chaos Gate [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chaos_gate] - Dawn of War is great, but I'd like to see a good turn-based game, maybe on a handheld. Basically, I'm after Squad Command [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warhammer_40,000:_Squad_Command] but good.

Star Control [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_control] - nuff said.

Elite [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elite_(video_game)] - I've never played it, because I think the low-fi tech of the original would probably prevent me from enjoying it now, but I've heard so much about it [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/issues/issue_197/5967-An-Elite-Presence] that I'd love to play a modern version.

Yep, it's true. Valve already released Half-Life: Source, but a lot of people decided it wasn't good enough and are just now finishing up a total remake with shiny pixels.

The old Sierra text-and-graphic adventure games. King's Quest, Police Quest, Space Quest, Quest for Glory...
You know, when games were games and not hardware demos.
