That said I still vote for Gandalf. I mean look at all the stuff he did. He's also by far the best Hero to use in BFME

Anyway, its pretty tough to grind it down to just one bad ass wizard, most of them are by definition fairly bad ass. But as for the best, probably an even split between Merlin(and his millions of incarnations) and Gandalf.

And the time he defeats the Balrog, causes the sun to dazzle to orcs as he rides down the hill at the head of the cavalry, summons giant eagles, comes back from the dead and calls for a magical horse.

And the fireworks are technically magic as no one has black powder up until the point its used in Helmsdeep? Correct me on that if Im wrong.

Belgarath, I am an endless fan of a drunken, carousing, womanizing yet still pretty much all powerful wizard/mentor. Unlike many of the others on this list, Belgarath is also funny.

He also has so many epic spells, your mind would blow itself to pieces if you tried to even think of the invocation. Almost indestructable barrier, which one must carefully disarm with at least 8 spells and knowing the correct order in which he needs to cast them? Yes, please.

Firstly he defeated the balrog with a sword and a staff not magic (the bridge likely collapsed from the weight of the balrog)
Secondly he came in the morning the sun was rising how is that magic?
Thirdly he talked to moth's an impressive ability not necessarily magical.

1. Oh please, he used a magic.

2. I think it was raining before. So the sky was clouded. Not a coincidence.

3. I wouldn't call talking to animals a non-magical ability.

4. He himself said that he died. And it wasn't a pretty way of "I changed my clothes".

How can you kill what is already dead... idiot. Movies have it all wrong, we can't be killed by any common items like bullets or cheese.
