Coincidentally, this is similar to why I'll never play Batman: Arkham Origins on PC. That game has a 35Gb install, which even for a sandbox game is excessive.

Most MMORPG's I've played aren't even that big (with WoW possibly being the only exception).

43GB for that game is insane! Its not like it has super high res textures.

But one thing i find interesting was the quote "I was gonna get this torrent but I saw the size and how long it would take me to download it, I said fuck it I'm getting it from Steam"

This is exactly how you "beat" piracy offer a better service. That guy did not give a crap about DRM or copyright infringement or anything else but he did care how easy the game is to get it was clearly not a matter of price for him as he instantly chose to buy the game when buying the game was more convenient for him, this is more effective than all of the DRM in the world.
