The fact that at one point Deadpool is referred to as ?The Merc With a Mouth? alone shows that the makers of this game cared more about this game than the movie was.

For those of you blissful enough to miss it, X-men Origins: Wolverine would have easily made worst film of the summer if Bayformers hadn't also shat on our eyeballs at theaters. The plot was idiotic, characters were barely there with only the excuse of making Wolverine look cool: Excuses for action scenes that were boring and derivative. It also makes some of the dumbest logical jumps I have ever seen, such as a bullet to the brain causing amnesia rather than... y'know, death. The presence of both Cyclops and Xavier in the films also raises the question of why Wolverine's past is such a mystery when both of them were at the goddamn Weapon X program.

And that's not even part of it.

It's like Raven Software took a look at the script and they all said 'For God's sake, -I- could make a better story!' And that's exactly what they did. Not only is Wolverine Uncaged a better game than the Wolverine movie, it's a better movie than the wolverine movie.

The plot's similarity to the movie is as superficial as they could be with making a tie-in game. Even the climax is tacked-on as an after-thought, -being easily the shortest level in the game- as though the developers were embarrassed by it, opting instead to make the climax an utterly fantastic Gambit fights. While the story isn't exactly Oscar material itself. It still manages to develop itself better through constant flashbacks and cutscenes that actually establish characters... y'know... what a STORY does. It's clear that the developers had a genuine respect for the mythos and history Wolverine has. (And yes I know, the idea of anything in the X-men world being called 'history' is a laughably loose use of the word)

I may seem to be hyping this up. Rest assured it's not because it's phenomenal, it's just that compared to the summer film, it's goddamn poetry.

So how is it as a game? Well, it's okay. The God of Devil May Gaiden spectacle fighter works pretty well for a game about wolverine, the action-commands never feel like press 'X to not die' situations. It is completely linear, and while there's nothing wrong with linearity, there is something wrong with repetition. There's a boss fight with a giant rock-golem creature that's repeated ad infinitum, and near the end, your enemies get obnoxious amounts of health. Don't worry, this doesn't make the game that challenging as you regenerate health pretty quickly. I'm not sure how to feel about this, as it certainly makes you feel as the snikt snikt bubbity bub unstoppable monster but it's not challenging. The only bubbing time I ever died were during some poorly constructed platformer sections. Jumping puzzles, okay. Jumpling puzzles with a time limit, fine. Jumping puzzles with a time limit and wonky camera is the line. Jumping puzzles with a time limit and wonky camera and enemies trying slice your head off the entire game just goes way too far.

As can be expected, you get a set of cool moves, a superficial level-up system, and a couple of extras like costumes and bios, et cetera, most of which you'll ignore because you'll be snikting bubs all day long.

The boss fights vary, but the snikt snikt bub- sorry about that. The two best are easily the Sentinel and Gambit boss fights which elevate this game up to rent level.

Overall, I honestly think that sniktbub: unsnikted is worth checking out because it's the first time in years I heard 'I'm the best at what I do and what I do isn't very nice' without rolling eyes and it provides a snikted atmosphere that really got me into the x-men moo-SNIKT SNIKT BUB RAAAAAH! BEST AT WHAT I DO! KILLING IS MY BUSINESS AND BUSINESS IS GOOD! SNIKT SNIKT!

Uh, sorry. Just enjoyed the game. But in any case, the problems is that it's short and has little replay value, so if you love snikting bubs, you should at least rent this game.
