So they went with the boring and conventional origin story instead of the interesting one? why am i not surprised.
Let's be honest: BOTH are conventional as hell. Seriously, making people out of clay and then given life by the gods is nothing new to storytelling. Heck, it's just as likely as Zeus being the father considering how Greek mythology works.
Thats fair enough I suppose, but i feel there something a bit more epic and special about being made from clay and granted life from the gods than Zeus shagged someone. I mean, both origins aren't exactly realistic (and the clay one is defintely sillier) but I think it makes Wonder Woman more special that she wasn't just born, but was a miracle (or a wonder, as gail simone put it so very well).

If anyones interested, this post (not made by me, i just found it) pretty accurately gives my feeling on Wonder Womans 'classic origin': http://scans-daily.dreamwidth.org/3795922.html

I didn't like the new 'Zeus is her daddy' origin.

I'd rather it have been either the clay story, or the whole 'Hades is my daddy' bit they tried in the DCAU.
Actually, I'd like it to be Hades. Poor guy doesn't get any recognition as the only half-decent god in that whole pantheon.

Zeus as her daddy... eh, that's cliche. I mean, clay is nothing new either, but it's not as widely used these days.
I have considered that as well, especially during the Justice League animated series when I saw their interaction, the tryst leading to the gate guarded by her mother was opened, the betrayal etc.

I thought man that would work, explains how Diana would be hard on rule breakers, judgement etc. Could even go with the internal struggle of "battling with the dark side" angle.

This retcon of now having Zeus as her father, why not something more original? Even more what is to prevent the Femercules framing of the character?

Hmm well I will still look forward to it and I hope that the movie turns out well.
