As anyone paying attention to news about the weather likely knows, the central US just got buried by a massive blizzard. Hit us yesterday and dumped somewhere between 8-10 inches of the cold white stuff on us. Needless to say, boss called off work yesterday. And though it stopped snowing at midnight last night, the boss has already called off work again. Which means, just as the title says: "Woo-hoo! Four Day Weekend!"

Just starting this topic up for fun, when was the last time you got to enjoy an extended weekend? Just how extended was it? What were the circumstances that made it extended (illness, weather, etc)? Not counting holiday weekends since those are freebies. I'm talking about the unexpected extended weekends.

As for what I did with my spare time yesterday, I managed to beat ME3 from start to finish including the DLC. I had started a project a couple weeks ago of playing the trilogy from start to finish (something I've wanted to do since ME3 came out). Got to see a new scene from the Extended Cut that I hadn't seen yet, as apparently I hadn't yet taken my love-interest on the final mission after the EC was released...got to tell Liara that I would always love her and that she means everything to me and have her respond that she'll always be mine. :3 Got a bit choked-up there, I'll admit.

Anyhow, rejoice and talk about enjoying extended weekends!

Wait, 10 inches? As in, not even 30 centimeters? I am at a loss of words here, really, but then again there are parts of the world where having half a meter and up to 70 centimeters of snow would be considered "Heh, that's cute" too, so well, I suppose I'll bite my tongue.

Lucky you, still!

Uhhh....hasn't happened in a while; I need to look into asking for a few vacation days sometime soon.

Then again lately I've been such a workaholic I wouldn't even know where to put and what to do with myself if I suddenly got 4 days off, seeing as I can't really go on a spending spree.

Ever since I finished part-time work (I go to class every mon-thurs and had to work friday and saturday) I have been getting 3 day weekends for the past 2 months, has given me much needed R&R after struggling with work and assignments with insultingly short deadlines.

Still have work to do, but at least I have more time for it.
I had a couple semesters in college in which my class-schedule worked out so I got three day weekends, gotta say I always enjoyed those because like you said: it's a great time to get some much-needed R&R.

Yeah, it had literally been three years since I took a really, official vacation from work (coincidentally, I've been working at this place for three years). Finally said "Damnit I want some time off" and got the boss to let me off from Christmas until January 2nd. Know what I did with my time off? Absolutely nothing. Sat at home enjoying some solitude, playing some games, reading some books, etc. Point is I didn't actually GO anywhere for my vacation. To me, vacations are time for yourself to rest and relax, I find the most comforting and relaxing place to be is my own apartment, so I just stayed home for a couple weeks....and it was everything I could have hoped it would be. :3

Heh heh, yeah, I live in Kansas City, MO. Bummer to hear that you've still gotta go to work tomorrow. But then again, the streets will likely be mostly clear (at least here they will be, don't know about your town/city). I hear we're supposed to be getting another good snow-dump on Monday too.

Last time I had a lot of time off was around Christmas where I managed to get 6 days off as I had 4 days of holiday left for that year and I ended up taking it towards the end of December. I didn't realize that I had managed to get almost a week off until I looked at the calendar. I usually end up catching up on any videogames that I haven't had a chance to play, watch films and read when I get spare time, and I occasionally meet up with friends.

CAPTCHA: lazy sunday. How apt...
