First order of business: I checked this with the search bar, "Wisdom" brought nothing like this thread.

Second: The point of this thread. Do you have a motto, a saying, a quote, or something you made up that may be considered wise? Something short, sweet, to the point, and overall wise.

Mine is one I made myself. Only by learning do we learn more.

Leaving things half-done is worse than never starting something at all.

Don't do either.

Circular Logic.

hmmm... my own?
Knowledge is power. Hide it well.
so some people think me an idiot at their own peril.

and I know it can't really be said to mine, but hey!
I don't care. I'm tired
I grow weary of this game. (well, that one is mine)

You might be on the right track, but you'll get hit by the train if you stay there.

That's one of the first principles of some occultists, actually. I like it.

Shamelessly nabbed from my own profile here, but I'm sure that's fine.

"With life, you must always remember, that no matter what happens, the one major thing you must learn, and never forget is: People suck. Remember that and you shall get far. Where you're going far to I haven't the foggiest. "

Doubt is the key to understanding and progress. Do not shy from doubting anything.

Well, here's how I came to this conclusion. Man learned to bang rocks together. Because of this, they made fire. Also, they learned this sharpened aforementioned rocks. So they learned to hunt. They got meat. They learned to cook by using fire and the meat.

Only by learning that rocks banged together was a great thing did they learn how to make weapons and fire. Only by learning did they learn more.

surely it would then also be

"Only through experimenting, do we learn more"[/joke]
or
"Hooligans have it right. if we keep smashing things, we'll have FTL Travel in no time"[/Joke]

EDIT: Edited so that people realise a jest when they see one.

"Wisdom and intelligence are not the same thing. Some of the most intelligent men on earth have made some of the most horrific decisions. I would rather have all the wisdom in the world rather than intelligence, because it is wisdom that tells us that the best things in life are the simplest."

One of the best quotes I have ever heard was:

"A fool thinks that he is wise, while a wise man knows that he is a fool."

"He who speaks does not now, he who knows does not speak."

Wisdom spoken by he who knew.

Rendering it pointless.

"Life isn't worth it if you can't look back on it and smile"

Gosh, that just oozes Biblical Proverb.

And yes, I came up with it. As far as I know.
