Alot of words get thrown around too much by gamers, which ones bother you the most? For me it's:

- Entitled (It's normal for a business to be greedy but a customer wanting to get his money worth is entitled)
- Immersion (must be those people who tie their kids up/let them starve while they play video games, I want no part of that)

Well goddamn, OP you just used what I was about to say.

The other word I really hate seeing around is "art" and if games are that. That discussion gets very ugly very fast, and no one wins after having it.

In short, bad grammar and spelling. Any word with bad grammar or spelling.
Yeah, I don't understand why people go out of their way to look less intelligent than they really are.

Yeah, I got sick of being beat over the head with "games are art, you can't criticize them" real damn quick. My response: "Ok, let Bioware be starving artists."

Haha yeah. I mean, I used to think that conversation was sort of interesting, but then it just kept happening.
No kidding.

Nothing like beating a dead horse until it's nothing more than a thin line of bone dust and leather.

Yeah, that last bit I never understood. If they are art, shouldn't I be allowed to criticize them? You know, like critics of other mediums do? It amazes me with people sometimes.

Propaganda but I cringe when most people say that because most people don't know what it means. Oh and Art.

Any time anyone uses the term 'fanboy' to dismiss anyone else's argument or try to make themselves sound all important by berating someone else on youtube because they play Halo, which clearly 'sux'.

Tired of "art" as well, and basically anything that comes out of anyone's mouth during a multiplayer match.

"Immature" "12 year old"

These phrases piss me off. Let's face facts people. Some of your are basing your judgments of people's intelligence, personality, and ability to make reasoned arguments based on their entertainment tastes. And frankly, if you're doing this, you're probably an ignorant moron. Sorry if that's harsh, but I'm tired of being insulted like that. It's just dumb.

Noob. I'm sure long ago it might of meant someone new to the game, lacking in skill and/or knowledge but it doesn't mean this anymore. Now when I hear the word noob uttered it translates to "I don't care if this is a multiplayer game I want to play the game this way and more importantly win, you are doing things differents so my plan isn't working out for me. WAAAH WAAAH WAAAH".

The word Noob to me now signifies a baby not getting it's way.

"I romanced _______"

That's really an awkward way of putting it. I never talk about girls I'm interested with my friends and say, "I'm gonna romance Jenny". It makes you sound like a rapist with a white knight complex.

This applies often to BioWare games. It bothers me on another level too. I really don't care much about the romances. I view them as a way to get a little different bit of the story every time I play the game. But some people...yikes. They are bananas. And it makes me feel awkward to be associated with the creepy fans, but I enjoy the games for the gameplay and story. So there it is...

"Tryhard." It's used as an insult, but it's really just an insult but I think it's just ridiculous and is only insulting to the user.

If you've got unpopular tastes and voice them, you're inviting comment. Same freedom of speech you have to express it, they have for mocking it. Goes true for everything from video games to politics to books.

OT:

"Carebear". Yeah, yeah. I get it. You're all badass cause your pixels can beat up my pixels. Go learn what a "girl" feels like.

You took mine. It's bizarre to me how that factors into multiplayer psychology. Where I encountered it most was playing Counterstrike: Source, where everyone worse than me called me tryhard and/or lifeless and everyone better than me called me a worthless noob/scrub.

Tryhard doesn't really make sense to me. Whether or not you truly "care" about winning, it's a competitive setting and you should at least try to win, right?
