Okay this may come out unintelligible, it's 1:40 am and I really need to sleep, but I really needed to do this.... ANYWAY onward!

So, at work, (I work at a full serve gas station, yes they still exist) in my second day, I had four different men offer me drugs (customers no less) and then when I turned them down, half of them propositioned me for sex instead.... Now, the girl who came to check on me to make sure that I hadn't died, was worried about the looks I was getting from some of these guys, and quite honestly I didn't really feel safe there.... do any of you guys have any idea how to make myself feel safer at work? (Guns are a no no, I live in Canada, and I can't take one to work anyway so please think practically) I want to use a knife, but everyone keeps telling me that its a bad idea -.- so now I'm here at almost 2 am asking random people on the internet lol ^_^ Anyway, any ideas are appreciated, and if you need any clarification on anything just ask!

Remind the customers that they're in a public setting if they try anything like that again. Or you could just keep pepper spray if you really feel the need to have physical defense.

I'd go with either pepper spray or a tazer. A knife is pretty risky, they might not be intimidated; they might have one and know how to use it.

Do you have an "In your dreams" face down? How about the "Go fuck yourself" look? Every girl should have them.
If someone approaches you sexually and is a loser, use the "In your dreams" face, and the "Go fuck yourself" face for the more aggressive ones. Be sure to practically spit venom when saying, "No." Just leave it at "No."
Have you been doing this already, though?

You could also find an exposed nail near the counter and keep the most threatening hammer you can find around. Feel uncomfortable? Pretend to notice the nail, and grab your hammer. Having a potential weapon is a great way to dissuade sexual predators.

attitude is important, I?m the least threatening guy you can imagine but I found that acting like an asshole goes a long way ( just make sure to not overdo it) .

also ALWAYS have someone to watch your back , that?s the best advice I can give you. ask someone who works there to check up on you every 20 minutes.

EDIT: as for weapons , if all you want to do is intimidate someone it?s ok to flash them around. But be careful as some people take those things on as a challenge so I say keep them hidden unless you have to

( don?t ask where I worked)
The problem is that I have to work by myself, and the other chick that works there has to be up at 5 am to open at 6:30.... can't ask her to call me all the time when she has to be sleeping =/ and I mean working in customer service... can you really act like an ass? I mean thats what I try to avoid.... >.>

I have been doing the faces, unfortunately most of them just seem to find them amusing for some reason (I'm almost 20 but I barely look like I'm 16...)

Its a convenience store; there isn't exactly a high standard for customer satisfaction at 3 in the morning, anyway.
More importantly, if you're feeling threatened, you have grounds to do something about it. I doubt you're acting like a jerk to people who aren't trying to get in your pants in creepy ways.

Still, I feel for you here. I'm 19 but look younger, and people tell me I have a particularly... fertile butt. The best you can do is walk the balance of not looking innocent, but not looking like a slut.
I reek of virginity and sexual innocence, so I can't offer any good suggestions on how to do so. :/

I generally try to be friendly to threatening people. Don't accept their offers, but treat them as you would, say, someone at your bus stop. You need to let them no that you're not interested, but you can't treat them like shit either because from my experience people will take that as a challenge. A weapon might not work so well because that may also been seen as a challenge depending on how... violent or hardline they are about what they're doing.

Be creepier then them, to be frank, look insane. It works. I bumped into someone by accident and they said "do that again and I'll kill you" to which I responded "I'll set you on fire and eat you and then rape your family"...needless to say he shut up. So my point is if they're creeping you out time to get our inner creep out.

I'm really sorry that's happening to you. x.x

A few times at my old job (grocery store) I had to work late at night, around a nearby Gas Station, and some of the looks I got were less then safe. The way I got around that is having friends hang out with me during work, and carrying a bit of pepper spray. It doesn't sound like much, but the sense of people having your back if something goes wrong and at least -some- option against anyone who tries anything can make all the difference in the world. <3

I hope this helps!
it really does ^_^ I'm glad that I've had such support for something so trivial to be honest :3

Sorry to hear about your bad experiences at work.

I do not think that you are doing anything wrong with clothes/signals and suchlike but are unfortunate enough to be at a place and time where desperate sleazy men come looking for a quick one.

I think that the best thing a women can wear in these situations is attitude.

A polite and sharp "no thank you" is all that needs to be said. Do not be nasty, just be firm as if to say "I am defiantly not interested and just want to get on with my job".

I also think it would be a good idea to take a note of their licence numbers and report such incidents to the police. Also, you can keep track of any repeat offenders. Repeat offenders are much more dangerous than the ones who only try once.

Most guys who attempt this are just desperate and trying to get lucky so they are not really a threat. Guys who attempt more than once might have other intentions so you have to be careful.

I would suggest carrying a taser or pepper spray. Only use it as a last resort. It seems like most of these guys will give up with a stern warning. Hopefully, you'll never have to use it.
