I recently started working every day, leaving morning at 6 am and getting home at 7 pm, and I realised, it really makes me feel like my life if totally worthless. I'm not sure why it feels this way, but it's taking it's toll.

I was just wondering really, what do you all thing of this silly 9 till 5 life style, and what do you do to earn your money instead?

IS it wrong that the wonderful 'Working 9 till 5' chorus line popped into my head?

But seriously the vast majority of people live this way, it sucks, you are now a slave tot he wage

Sounds to me like you're got a killer commute mind....

Personally I think it's crazy that I'm chained to a desk, answering a phone for a measly 960 a month (about $1550) but what you gonna go?

If you realllly don't like it, find something else 9 years of it and I've kinda gotten used to ti

I'm in an apprentiship, so I only get £400 a damn month. So yeah, it's nothing much better.
Also, I called it "Workin' 9 till 5" for that reason, Lmao xD

9 to 5 is easy that's only 8 hours... you are apparently doing 13 hours, which is stupid.

If that's all commute time I suggest you move somewhere that isn't a gridlocked shit hole.

It's 3 buses every morning, and 3 every evening, it's 31 miles from home and yeah, it's bullshit. but It has to be done because it's the only place that would do the course I wanted.

I work 6:00pm to 2:30am. Night owl for life! Of course I'm nothing but a wage slave.
A night job sounds far more amazing, just because it leaves you more time in the real DAY To get shit done. -_-

My favorite job was 9-5, not just because of the job, but because of the hours. Who weekend of work was bliss.

Much better than shitty jobs where I started at 5am and finished at 1pm, very anti-social hours and having a day of here and there in stead of two in a row sucked ass.

9 to 5 has a wonderful way of making life feel like it has no purpose.

I found at uni that I work best after dark, so it's not like my boss even gets the best out of me this way, but hey, money will trump all personal desires when it comes down to it.

Last summer I worked a 12 hour shift (6:00 am to 6:00 pm) 5-6 days a week. Sometimes after work or on a day off I'd do a part-time job another 3-5 hours.

None of it was engaging or satisfying in anyway but the paycheck. Still, I did it to pay for my education so I could do what I wanted to do in life and that is what kept me going. I think I would have gone batshit crazy if I didn't have a goal in mind.

I work from 9-5.30 not as long as my previous job but I hate my job so much I'm seriously getting depressed (and I don't throw that word around lightly).

The worst thing about full-time work is that you really don't have time for much else.

I feel your pain, work 6 to 6, first a.m. to p.m., then vice versa the next week. You get used to working 12 hours, its the constant swaping from dayshift to nightshift that hurts. The biggest thing that helps is to have work you don't mind doing/enjoyable co-workers. I can walk around all day, and we regularly grill out or order food. Small things like this makes it much more bearable, and helps the time go by.

I understand you on the depressed matter, today I left after 1 just because it was taking all my motivation away from me and I couldn't take it.

I hate this job, but in 6 months I can be earning a lot more, I do hope.

I would love for my job shifts to change, just to mix things up a bit. Anything is better then falling into a rut.
