This explains it pretty well http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=byJSoWl476I it is a knock-off of Zero Punchuation but it has a great point.

For the holiday season? Get ready for lots of mums asking what a PS3 is. Hah.

Seriously, that's what I'm applying for this Christmas (hopefully) to make some cash. If teh pay is good, then don't complain :]

Firstly, what happened to your suspicious man covered in snow avatar? That was awesome.

Secondly, it's very true that any job will be annoying and difficult. As for me, my old job was the most boring work I have ever done. The same closing routine every shift, with one other person. Barely a single customer entered the store.

Bleh. I would rather have horror-story inducing people than complete and utter boredom. At least you get to tell the horror stories later.
I liked this one more. I might go back to the snow one, though, I've seen a lot of Mugen avatars around lately.

See, I don't mind boring. Boring, I can deal with. It's when things go wrong that I start to wonder if it's even worth the check at the end of the week. Case in point: Saturday afternoon in July. It's the third, and everyone's stocking up on every conceivable party item. It's hot as all get out, and the air conditioning unit's on the fritz. I start to wonder if things can get any worse, when it happens. Some kid, ten or eleven, throws up in the middle of an aisle, slips in it, falls, knocks over a display of cans. To this day, I have no idea how it happened. Maybe the kid was sick. I never found out. All I remember is the smell, and how long it took to clean up...

That's true, though. I'd guess a game store employee would be more interesting to talk to than an insurance salesman...

Go for it, but make sure your 9-part youtube rant isn't a complete Zero Punctuation ripoff, m'kay?
I didn't make it, I just found it and thought it was awesome

I think of it this way: I'm not going to be in this retail job forever, so would I rather look back on it and see monotony and boredom or chaos, horrific customers and unpredictability? I choose the memorable one.

Huh. Never saw it from that angle before. Good point.

it's funny that Zero Originality has been linked 5 times in this thread.

it is the best example of how horrible game stops can be... but then again you get good ones too, there's a good one by my house and they are one of the few game stops that don't have any of the problems mentioned in zero originality

A job's a job, you've gotta go somewhere to have that youthful optimism converted to jaded cynicism, you might as well be somewhere that also destroys your one passion in life. All I can say is that it beats working at Maccas. But only just.
